carbon fiber hood doesnt fit properly

Actually that was my talon I haven't posted pics of my gs-t with the hood yet

Looking at your headlight alignment, it looks like your front end hças been tweaked at some point. Probably a minor fender bender. Pulling the fenders in is exactly what needs to happen. Also with some dsms you need to remove the rubber bump stops for proper fitment. Kind of weird that some dsms you do, others you don't. You can get that hood lined up perfectly with a little elbow grease.

Sorry to break it to you guys....Carbon fiber hoods are for DROPPING WEIGHT. Worrying about how perfectly it fits cosmetically.... it sucks that the fitment isn't quiet right, but if you are buying it for perfect fitment and for how baller it will look on your car, get a vinyl wrap.

:heystupid::f-u:
1.i know what its used for
2.i care about fitment is because it leaks on my f*cking intake

what about other cf parts like fenders doors and trunk lid. any one have any ideas

My VIS hood has just about as much gap as everyone's.

As for CF fenders, just imagine if the hood doesn't fit correctly you can pretty much assumed that the fenders are the same.

Well i guess it goes for all aftermarket body parts. I saw pictures from carbon creations and other sites and all of them have the gaps.

MY CF hood is probbaly a no name hood..But the only issues I had was high and loy spots in the front..Which all I had to do was adjust the pillows up or down and it took care of the rise above fender height..

I guess I have one more problem..Even after adjusting the pillows it seems like the left side where the intake sits is a little higher than the other side, even with hood pins..But I don't see a problem other than looking at it pisses me off..But as long as more cold air get in there I really don't care..

As others have said, aftermarket hoods usually don't fit very well. Not all hoods are made the same, but most of the ones available to the Eclipse line (which is US only) tend to be made by companies in China who mass produce products and exercise poor quality control.

OMGff rant:

There are a few things you can do about this before you toss your hood into the trash.
1. Spend a little more time with a friend aligning your hood. When you attach the hood, snug it down, but do not tighten the screws all the way. Close the hood and then use your fingers or a wooden spatula to even the gaps and align the hood as close to OEM as you can. This may take several tries before you find the hood's "true center" and will require you to adjust the latch repeatedly until you get it right. The latches flex from side to side until they are secured. This is something that often gets overlooked during an excited install.

Secondly, it may be necessary to adjust the rubber bumpers up/down to seat the hood properly when it's down. What's more, the hood latch it self may need to be raised or lowered for a snug fit.

The next thing I've found that helps is heat. I don't advise anyone to hit the hood with a heat gun, but after the hood is centered you can let the car bake in the sun on a hot day, then place a moderate weight on an area you need compressed/relaxed. If the hood sits higher then the fender and the tip of the hood does not line up with the front or rear of the fender, this may help. REMEMBER, you'll want to either have the hood latch popped and you may need to re-adjust the latches to move the hood backwards (if necessary).

The last thing I would advise is replacing all the weather seals on the hood. It really does make a difference to reducing the vibration by providing an over-all better seal.

2c, for what it's worth.

Here's what we recommend for fixing frp and carbon fiber hood gap:

1. Adjust bump stops
Twist and lower stops or remove if necessary.

2. Use hood pins
Preferably AeroCatch latches to hold the hood closer to the core support keeping the hood flush with the fender line.

3. Adjust hood latch
Remove the front bumper and reposition the hood latch so it catches at the proper height. This can help to avoid any problems you might encounter of the hood resting too high, leaving a gap. It can also fix issues where the latch may not have enough play to properly catch the hood when it strikes. In some cases the factory hood catch does not have any room for adjustment, it may be necessary to drill out the mounting holes and use washers to give the catch room to slide.

4. Adjust fenders
You may need to enlarge the mounting holes of the fenders in order free up room for adjustment by repositioning the fenders towards the hood to eliminate any gap.
