Sooooo I recently replaced the oil feed hose with a home made one-
woohoo! First hose...and it turned out just fine.
After cutting it and attaching the ends, I blew some compressed air and ran water through it to make sure all the junk was out of it. Well I might have missed a chunk-
I found this stuck right at the end of my oil line before the turbo, thus blocking oil flow to my cheapo 16g
Before I knew this was happening, I was driving around one night and heard the turbo make a faint, but noticeably different squealing noise. I went home right away and shut her down for the night. When I went to start it up 3 days later it would NOT hold an idle...the car would just fire up, sputter, and die almost instantly. If I gave it gas it would rev up fine but at about 3k rpm the squealing noise was heard again.
So now I discovered the chunk of rubber plugging up my feed line. I'm not concerned about the turbo being dead, it was a cheapo and I already had a t3 turbo ready to be swapped in. But my question is- Would this plugged feed line have anything to do with the car not idling? My theory was maybe the turbo was seized up due to no oil and the restricted exhaust was choking out the car. Then when I gave it gas the turbo was forced to spin and squealed.
However, now with the turbo out of the car it still spins semi-freely...At least enough where it wouldn't be considered seized. So...any support to my theory or advice is appreciated!
Edit: I should mention- 420a turbo
