Car wont start, kinda wierd, i think i broke my ignition

allrite so im leaving to go home from dinner and turn the key, it clicks but doesnt sound right, like i broke something. so i just turn the key and nothing, no clicking, no cranking, nothing. all power works that doesnt need the car on, dome light, head lights, etc...so i search for awhile i didnt really find too much like this. like i said, when i turn the key it does nothing, no clicking or anything. just wandering if anyone has any input, thanks

i was with my friend once and his car did that. We were sitting in a parking lot listening to music and shut his car off and then it wouldnt start up. Wouldn't click or anything. Turns out that the ground on the starter was crap. so the triple a guy hit the starter with something and it started up.. he had to take it to a shop and get fixed. Maybe it could be your starter

Its an electrical problem. Check your battery first of all. It takes far less energy to power a stereo or a dome light than it does to start an engine. If the battery's dead, recharge then replace it. If that's not it, check all connections that you can beginning with the battery itself. Also make sure you check power to the starter. Tap it with a hammer if its getting power - it may just be frozen shut. If its not getting power... well, if it's not getting any power, then there's a whole slew of possibilities: including the very slight possibility that you damaged your ignition. Be careful while doing this, and remember that you need to check power to the starter while the key is turned.
