so i have a 2g rs, !st gear shakes the car violently when letting out the clutch so ive just been using 2nd to launch to avoid having my tranny fall out of my car, but the other day im pulling away from a stop light and smoke starts to pour out from my hood and exhaust, i quickly pull over to see what the problem is and oil is running right through my intake onto the ground. on the way home there were small amounts of smoke still coming from the exhaust. I havent driven it since. Whats wrong? I think its a blown head but i got a new head a little over a year ago...

You know, I have a similar problem with my GST, letting off the clutch in 1st shakes the car but only in the morning when I leave for work and the car is cold. After 10-15 minutes it runs fine. Other odd thing is that Sometimes, the clutch will slip whereas today its been as tight as a freshly torqued lug nut. All that aside, I'm not sure whats really wrong with mine either other than the car is moody...:hmm:

yep i second Aznspice27 i recently took out a buddies tranny and when i got it the throw out bearing fell apart. definately check your throw out bearing the fingers on you pressure plate they could be broken causing it to shake like that. also the oil pouring out could definately be a bad head gasket. when you replaced the head did you put a new gasket it. just asking some people think they look good and just put old one back on.

is the oil running through your intake manifold to the ground if that is the case i would suspect your valve cover gasket

If the pressure plate finger is broken, would it make any noise?

Hmm... Right now it makes a clicking noise when I push the clutch in and it behaves somewhat erratically. Sometimes the clutch is tight and sometimes it feels like theres no pressure and sometimes it hovers in between. Also, it will drop to the floor maybe once in a blue moon when I press it. It has never stuck to the floor but just goes down very easy. I do hope its just a clutch problem and not crankwalk. This car has 162k miles on it so I don't think its that but no idea what else since theres so many syptoms.

man i can be so many things your master cylinder slave cylinder air in the clutch lline bleed it off and see if that helps. just check everything before you tackle the job of removing your tranny.
