:talon: Whats up! I have a 95 Talon TSI AWD 5 speed and some odd problem it won't start. Everything turns (belts and cams) but the car still wont start. The car turns over but it doesnt start. The battery and alternator work and theres spark. The car sounds like it wants to start but it doesnt and my rpm gauge reads 0 constantly. What can it be cuz its drving me crazy?

I'm getting fuel and it the only thing I've changed was a belt the needed to be replaced a couple of days ago. It was the alternator belt and its been running just fine. Then early 2day i went to start the car and no go. Any other ideas on what it could be?

Also, check to make sure the plug is attached to the power transistor completely. Ive seen one come loose and keep the car from starting. The tell-tell sign of the transistor is the tach not working.

I believe a malfunctioning ECU will also keep the tach from moving.

Check the caps.

Good luck.

Having spark and loss of tach? I'd look at your spark plugs to make sure they somehow didn't get gas fouled. If they look black and wet, I'd change them and try again.

If it still doesn't start and you have spark, I'd listen to see if the injectors were pulsing. Using a screwdriver, listen to your injectors and see if they make that sharp clicking sound. If not, test for 12 volts at the injector harness with key on, engine off. KOEO.

If you have 12 volts, take the clip on your test light and hook it to 12+ side of battery.

Probe the other wire and crank engine. Light should flicker. If it does, the grounding circuit is ok in the pcm. If it stays off or on while cranking and does not flash, you have lost the grounding side of the pcm.

Do these tests and let us know. pm me to alert me to your repost.

One last thing. Just to humor me. After checking your spark plugs to make sure.

Get some carb spray and while cranking have someone spray into the intake a little squirt. Be careful in case you have a back fire. Loss of hair can result. Have a fire extinguisher handy just in case. You never know. If engine starts, it's fuel. If it won't start, it's most likely spark or mechanical. Such things as timing belt come to mind there.

Let us know.

Good Luck
