My car won't start. I have a 99 eclipse not turbo, 420a. When I turn the key all i get is a buzzing sound and then nothing. The engine won't try to turn over. I've replaced the battery, battery terminals, and starter! Could this be the ignition switch??? :banghead:

I appreciate any suggestions or tips!

Check to see if the little rubber stopper on the clutch pedal lever is missing. It plugs the hole where your clutch start switch goes. Had this exact problem, replaced the starter and still wouldn't start. Pushed that little button and had a friend turn the key and it fired right up. Have you tried kick starting it yet?

yeah i have check my fuses and they are all fine. do u have a picture of the stopper im not sure what it is. i think i see it. when i swapped it from an auto to manual i bypassed the nss so i dont think this should matter

Nope...it shouldn't. I have no clue then.

could it be an issue with the ground wire going to the starter? also my old battery died and i just replaced it recently. could the old battery dying have caused the alternator to go bad??

if you bypassed the neutral safety switch then that should not be an issue but double check it to be sure. There is a fusible link in the wire that runs from the starter to the ignition what i would do is take a test light and put it on the small wire on the starter silonoid. Have someone else turn the key and see if you have power if not it may be that fusible link. It could also be that the ignition switch contacts have worn down but i have never had a problem with an ignition switch before.

do any lights come on? like dash lights, head lights, radio, battery light, coolant light? any thing like that? or do you turn the key and nothing happens and you here that little buzz, and where is the buzz coming from(which side of car)?

yes all lights come on. i tested the wire that runs to the starter with a multimeter and i got 0 volts (yes i used DC).

i cant quite tell becasue im alone and i cant start it and listen to where it comes from exactly. i know its coming form the engine and is either coming from the middle or left of the engine. im goning to have my friend come over and have him start it and then ill be able to tell

well when i first turn it ill put it to on and i will buzz. then i go to start is 2 or 3 times but it only buzzes the first time i turn the key

the buzzing is coming from these three plugins that are all in a row. i checked to make sure all the wires were connected and they are
