Hello everyone I am new to this forum and the dsm scene. I recently purchased a 93 talon tsi awd auto. When I picked the car up it was having a bogging issue which was traced to a bad fuel pump. Well I picked up a 255lph walboro figuring i'd eliminate the fuel pump issue when I drop in a 6 bolt this winter. I'm also running 450 injectors due to the 390's that were on were sticking and basically just sucked. Well the problem with the car is as follows.

The car has a horrible bogging issue if you don't constantly run the piss out of it. In everyday driving when you're not constantly boosting it it will bog horribly, sometimes bad enough where the car doesn't want to go at all. The aftermarket boost gauge is reading 10psi (set up for daily driveabilty) the turbo is spooling like mad and the car is going NOWHERE.

However if you hold the gas to the floor while the rpm's build slowly when it gets to about
5k it blows a hearty cloud of smoke of unburt gas out of the exhaust pipe and the car will run great until you start putting around again and it goes back into slugo mode.

I read on the faq's about the fuel system and it mentioned that if you were running a 255 that you would need to run an adjustable fuel pressure regulator. I'm wondering if this could be my problem.

Running a td05 turbo if that would help. Also just put in some new ngk 6es spark plugs thought the iridiums in it might be causing it........alas no. If anyone could help i'd be enternally grateful. Sorry about the novel of a post but I wanted to mention everything I could think of.

Definitely sounds like you need that AFPR. The engine can burn most of the fuel when you are using full throttle, but when you let off it keeps pumping more gas than the engine can use. I've been waiting to put my 255hp in until I get an AFPR as well...

Edit: Crimsondragon beat me to it

Thanks for the help guys, I thought it was the fuel pump just drowning me. I appreicate the quick responses. Time to get that afpr.

If you changed out the stock 390's with 450's you need some way of correcting for the larger injectors. You could swap out the ecu with a manual trans ecu, use an afc or go dsmlink, but you absolutely need some way of correcting or you are going to wipe the rings out of the motor and possibly the bearings as well from all the extra fuel. I would suggest not driving it until you correct this problem first. An afpr is also highly recommended to stop over run, but your biggest problem is the larger injectors with no way of correcting them.
