I was driving my car today and it stopped shifting gears. It will only go into gear with the engine off .

Any ideas?

the clutch feels good.. nice and solid still and like i said it shifts in gear with the engine off...

and it will start in nuetral. But if i put it in gear and try to start it the engine turns for a second and stops

My car is actually grinding from a throw out bearing, could the TOB cause it not to go into gear when i start it??

also, i just checked my fluid level and it is actually overflowing somehow.. any suggestions on why that is??

right when i took the cap of fluid is all the way to the top and i have some fluid on the bottom of my tranny... but there is no play in the clutch and my fluid is full.... The TOB has been bad for a year already and the fluid on the bottom of my tranny has always been there, even tho its wet, which means its leaking!! i have never had to put fluid in it because its always full, so how can i have a leak and never have to put fluid in it for over a year i dont get it

ok and i also just tried to get it to even start while in first gear and it moves forward like the clutch is engaged even with my foot on my pedal...but it wont start and when it does start i cant get it out of gear so i have to kill it to get it to shut off

yea sounds like it... i can still hear the TOB grinding like always tho.. so it is still in there doing whatever it does LOL, so i just cant figure out why it wont go in gear.. and it doesnt explain the fluid level or the leak that never needs me to add fluid

ohhhh ive done it LOL

thats why im already dreading it. Im gonna pull it apart tomorrow and see whats wrong, im just hoping its the TOB :)

also one last thingbefore i do this tomorrow.. I have felt a TON of vibration in my clutch pedal the last few days... does anyone know what that means so i can diagnose this right :)

okkkk update!!!!

i took the tranny off and got the bearing but it isnt broken in peices or anything.. and it does still spin. I think the bearing are bad in it but would that cause my clutch to not engage???

there was a ton of clutch dust all around the bearing but i didnt wanna take it all off because i was running out of light. Can you guys give me a little info on what to look for to see if the clutch is bad. its weird if the clutch is bad because it has never slipped.. EVER.. what else could it be?? also the pressure plate looks like it has a small indent where the TOB was sitting and looks to be a little bent in at the tips, nothing super noticable but i can see the ring where the TOB was sitting, is that normal?? please help me :(

Was the clutch fork moving when you pushed the pedal? Or was it stuck in place, if so then i am having the same problem right now.

my fork moves, very easy actually. Ive posted all the details no one is replying anymore :(

also i checked the master and slave there are no leaves there and the pedal is nice and solid like always.............

well i will change it if needed... i was just wanting some assurance im not wasting money here.

It all started 3 days ago i felt heavy vibration in my clutch petal.. does anyone know what that means??

the vibration kept getting worse and it was harder and harder to shift gears.... what would have caused it??

The clutch disc friction material could of separated. Bering that you have the modular clutch it will be king of hard to tell because the pressure plate doesn't separate from the flywheel.

i thought yo ucould still take it all off, you just had to get the modular kit??

i should be able to take it all apart and investigate the problem correct?? My tranny is off already and i took the bearing out... its a bit noisy when i spin it by hand but that is as far as i got.. I ran out of daylight LOL

basically what we need to figure out is why the clutch will not engage and disengage.... because i can change gears when the car isnt running

and i can start it in first but it just wants to GOOOO like the clutch isnt engaging!! if the clutch was bad its wouldnt grab the flywheel correct??

any ideas ROFL?

my tranny is off already :(

i need to know how do look for problems LOL... how can you tell if the clutch is bad because my fork looks good my TPB is worn but not busted or anything, and it still spins

can i take a modular clutch apart because the guy afew posts ago said i couldnt, even tho i thought i could

from what i can see it all looks good....

that doesnt mean the disc doesnt have a bad spring or something but would that cause it not to engage and disengage??

i dont wanna take it all apart to find nothing wrong LOL :(
