My car vibrates when I get to 50 mph. Car drives just fine untill I get to that speed limit. I was told that I might have to check the alignment, cv joints, universal joints, and suspension. My guess would be that its the cv joints but does anyone know how to check them? Is there a tech manual for that? thanks

Well assuming you know what and where the cv joints are just put the car on stands. Crawl under it and an easy way to check is look at the rubber boots and see if theres grease comming out of them or if one is torn. However, they can still have a good boot but be junk. Then you have to pull out the axles so you can feel if the joints are junk. I also recomend checking your tires you may have a broken belt in one or they maybe out of balance.

I just got new tires about 1,000 miles ago. I'll have them balanced out just in case. I'll check the cv joints now. If the cv joints are the problem. How much do they cost? Plus I heard about a lifetime recall on the cv joint control arms?

Wow really? I never knew that. It literally sounds like the car its about to explode. Really loud and really bad vibration. But why if I may ask, does that happen with new tires? and at certain speeds? Really appreciate all your help guys. thanks

I'm with the tire balance people. Fifty is the usual area to feel wheel imbalance. You may have tossed a weight, or you may have a tire delaminating- Louis Hamilton could explain that to you.

I'm going to get my tires balanced. Can an unbalnced tire vibrate the car that badly though? I'm pretty sure it wasn't the cv joints. I checked the steering wheel for play and it won't budge at all, tried to move the tires back and forth and nothing, stiff as a rock. Some of my friends were telling me that I might of thrown a weight. What is that may I ask?

Also I went over some potholes, they aren't very deep, like an inch or two deep, but I hit them going 80 mpg. Don't know if that can be a factor. I tried looking up tire delaminating, couldn't find it.

Yes one unbalanced tire will vibrate badly.
Weights are what is used to balance the tires.
Hitting potholes will damage/separate the steel belts holding the tires together causing balance problems.
You also may have a bent wheel.

Update. I got my tires balanced and did the alignment today. I then drove it around today to try to hear and feel where its coming from. Now I notice when I put it in neutral that the vibration completly goes away. The vibrating comes and goes whenever it wants. Half the time it drives perfectly fine and boosts good and the other half it vibrates. Its actually feels like the motor is vibrating. It feels like theres something in the intake preventing the turbo to spool, or like the motor is not getting enough air, I can hear the exhaust vibrating too. So i guess I got to bring it in the shop to see what they can find out. im lost on trying to pinpoint the problem.

The more and more I drive it the more I think the engine is misfiring. The fast thumping vibrating noise feels like it comes directly from the head, like how the piston pumps. the harder I acclerate the more vibration from the engine. So what do I check for misfiring? Sparkplugs? wires? coils? Any ideas?
