Hey guys,

I have a problem with my car sputtering while in traffic. Basically when im in bumper to bumper traffic, and im constantly on the clutch, after about 5-10 stop and go, the car acts like it no longer wants to accelerate and just sputters until I push the pedal almost to the floor. It usually happens in 1st and 2nd.

Ive read some other threads but most seem to be related to turbo models.

History:

The only thing ive done to the car is:

-Changed the valve cover to my newly painted one
-changed spark plugs
-changed wires

I have MSD wires and NGK plugs. I read later that NGK spark plugs are more recommended for the turbo models.

I don't have and lights or codes coming up.

Thanks

EDIT: also, my car does like to drop RPMs and sometimes stalls in traffic as well. I can go from 2000 down to 200 while stopping. AC also surges my engine at idle almost stalling it.

Sounds like a vacuum line issue to me. Go through and make sure all of your lines look good. Also, a little "chasing" with some starting fluid might locate a leak

I did a vacuum test like a month ago. I did the Carb cleaner method but im not sure if I got all of the lines or not for an accurate test with that method. but the carb cleaner didn't effect the idle at all. Ill look into chasing with some starting fluid to test for any leaks

If you're still having a problem with this...Try pulling your throttle body, removing the sensors (TPS and IAC) and cleaning all the gunk out of it. Clean the back of the butterfly plate as well. Get a new TB gasket, put the sensors back in the TB and reinstall the TB. See what happens.
