hey everyone im back into dsms and neep help more than ever...i looked around before posting and did not find what i need so i hope im not repeating someone else...ok i am buyin a 98 talon fwd non-turbo but what i wanna do i wanna build a turbo motor to drop in so i need to know can i build it and drop it in or do i need to change things like ecu or anything like that any suggestions...thanks chris

+1 to HIGHPSI4. Considering the price difference between an esi and a tsi is pretty small, I would have just sprung for the tsi.

Their right even this swap on the simpel ones arent worth it.
Im completing the swap on my 94 eclipse nt swap
and its alot more work then you would expect.

well i assume they have the turbo kit because i seen it in a thread could i just rebuild the 420a with forged pistons and put a turbo kit on it

so it can be done???....but is it crazy hard...and were can i get the kits for it

It is very near impossible unless you have a lot of money to pay a fab shop. All engine mounting spots would have to be changed, all drivetrain parts, etc.

You will be much better off to sell the NT and buy a turbo car.

so your saying you have to change the motor mounts to turbo it

To answer your last question, yes you can rebuild your 420a with forge internals to handle higher boost levels, you can also turbo your current stock 420a but you will be limited to the amount of boost you can run. I'm moving this thread to the "420a bolt-on tech" where you can get more precise and detailed answers.

Lastly, we require our members to use proper grammar, spelling, punctuation and capitalization when posting in the tech sections of the forum, comply or die!!! :D

Buddy, you might want to just sell the thing right now if you don't wanna do anything hard. Everything is hard on a dsm...EVERYTHING. In fact, there should be an owners manual that says something along the lines of "If you're not ready and willing to give up your girlfriend, your job and possibly your life altogether and dedicate that time to this car than we strongly suggest against you purchasing this automobile. Wait, if you're reading this it means you already did. Let us apologize in advance. Sorry."

I put together my kit for $2000 and am very happy with it. Do some searching around and you will find that you can't swap a 4g63 into a 420a-powered car.

no, you can drop a 4g63 in the 420a's place but your looking at spending 3500 in just parts alone, so do what everyone else recommended, sell it and go for a tsi. or you can check out hahn race craft, they got it down when it comes to turboing the 420a's, either way you looking at spending some good money.....

I have seen one 2gnt that they put a 4g63 in and I think in the end it costed around 6000 all together with parts and labor all for a stock turbo 2g. Definately not worth it since you can buy a 2g gsx for that much now.

The ones who have swapped the engines, I can say with confidence DO NOT run, and if they do, they have numerous problems. It's definitely not worth the time, labor, etc. The 420a, once build, can compete quite well with the 4G63. GST vs. Built RST are very equally matched.

Thanks i understand that dsms are hard work this is my forth one I'm just gonna mod out the non-turbo for a daily driver and when that is done I'm gonna buy a turbo car thanks for all the help i really appreciate it....please look at my post in the newbie section about the max power on a na and give feedback..i would like that

thanks to all
