I've got this weird thing going on that only happens if I shut the car off and start it back up before it totally cools off. Say I go to the grocery and come out and start it, it pulls this crap but not if I start after being at work for 8 hours.

Symptoms:
A/F shows buried rich
Car has outrageous hesitation complete with sputtering and making me look like I cant drive a stick.
If I crack the throttle a few times to 5 or 6 it typically goes away and I see the A/F saunter back to stoich.
It did this prior to the turbo install, and has just continued to get worse and worse.
If I let it cool off, runs fine.
If I dont let it cool down at all, runs fine.
Its just that inbetween temp that is killing me.
WTF?

if you still have your stock coil pack, put it back on for a day and see if it does the same thing.

msd coil packs have a tendancy to geek out sometimes. Mine is still working, but I hanging on to my stock coil pack just incase.

Thats a thought.
I only had this thing about a month before I had to put a headgasket on it and I put the msd on then. Pretty sure I dont have my old one though, but it should be easy enough to find one somewhere.

For giggles had autozone check the codes, just as I suspected.
EGR - duh I took it off.
O2 sensor - duh, thats been there ever since the cat came off.

This is annoying as hell I am ready to start randomly buying parts, I am thinking of starting with the TPS and front O2 sensor and working on to the more obscure parts unless someone has a some insight for me.

I noticed you have 255 fuel pump. Do you have an afpr? If not you need one. Also check for boost leaks/vacuum leaks. The front O2 sensor is probably bad and with you running that rich it will make a new one go bad too, unless you get an afpr. I would get an afpr first then replace the front O2.

well as I said this has been happening back since in the day of NA, with the stock fpr.

Then I went to the vortech FMU and about about three weeks of boost I noticed that suddenly I had a fuel pressure bleed off. When I would turn the key and what would hold pressure at 50 psi suddenly dropped straight to zero I got worried. So I elimated the factory FPR and upgraded to the vortech SMFU and things stayed 100% the same much to my dismay.
But again this whole sputtering thing happened way before the turbo, only it has progressively gotten worse. now On 70 degree days it is happening until the computer sees it as hot. I have talked to three reputatble shops and know one has a blue. Needless to say I am at a loss.
