i got a 95 eclipse gs with the 420a and it for the most time runs like garbage. im getting 2 fuel metering codes. i tried swappin the map sensor and that did nothing, its not missing but it sounds like an injector is sticking open at idle as it will pop and backfire. it gets good mpg on the highway and smooths out in the upper rpms except everyonce in a while it wont idle well and stalls out and wont go past 3700 rpms in every gear likes its hitting some sort of rev limiter. it does that sparaticlly and i almost have to put my foot to the floor and pump the pedal to get it to start but im showing 45psi on the fuel pressure gauge and have a new fuel filter. plugs and wires are new so is the coil. im stumped on the scanner it says my long term fuel trim is -20% and i erase the fuel tim codes and it goes back to that automatically. anyone have any ideas?? thanks

Start with inspecting for vacuum leaks, make sure the cams are timed correctly, and check that the EGR tube hasn't melted the wire harness that runs near it.

Can you post a log?

I second the Cam timing/wiring harness.

Im not trying to scare you man, but this did happen to me once and I had a valve that was stuck. Eventually it got stuck in my piston. If you cant figure it out, I wouldnt really be trying to push it past 3700RPM, and you might want to think about a leak down/compression test. Probably isnt the valve issue, but if you had a grenade in your hand would you check to see the pin was there before setting it down?

Exactly!

You dont want to have a valve stuck in a piston. It sucks. Been there done that!!

vaccum lines are good i got a spare set of injectors im gonna try. most the time it runs good just at idle it runs extremly rich and dumps extra gas in there so i think i have a stickin injector. when i change those i will be changin the intake gasket too so well see if that helps

new injectors didnt help, changed out the map sensore still does it. it runs wqay rich at idle and smoothes out at high rpms and runs good. unless it stalls out then its like i hit a revlimiter at 3800 rpms in neutral, and every gear, but if i shut it off for a few seconds and start it back up it will not cur out anymore just dump fuel at idle
