ok for some reason my car sounds like a suby i dont know why... i had the car parked for a few days changed the oil and installed wideband gauge all the wires for it in the car and mounting it the bung is not in the exhaust pipe yet. ive changed my plugs checked igintion coil and all of that seems fine.. its almost like the car is skiping any ideas? thanks for the help guys

What do you mean "mounting it the bung is not in the exhaust pipe yet"? Are you saying there is a hole in your exhaust where the wideband should be or what because that would made a wrx sound i bet. I did a pull after i got my new front mount on and when i pulled up to a stop i noticed a wrx like sound. Actually it sounded just like one. I felt a power loss and did a compression test and the ring were toast.

i did all the mounting for the windeband gauge inside the car and hooked up the power and ground wire so it will turn on. i did NOT touch the exhaust yet so there is no bung or hole in the exhaust. it almost sounds like my car is running on 3 cyclinders i have no clue why

no logger and im running a maft that was the first thing i checked to make sure was pluged in im totally stumped on this one

Suby's with exhaust sound ####in awesome, I love that sound.. so I think thats my next car.:) anyway i think youre misfiring like hell, thats what happened to me when my spark plug welded itself, it was running on 3 cylinders... check your plugs..

I second that, check your plugs and wires. Make sure everything is connected. My brother's 1g sounded like it was running on 3 cylinders...and it was, one of the wires wasn't connected.

It's a random misfire. My car sounded the same way when I'd misfire. It was tight sounding but it fell flat on its face under WOT.

i changed the plugs when it started they are brand new ngks wires are all connected any other ideas?

I just had this problem the other day. I detonated really bad and had low compressoin in a cylinder 'cause of bad valve seals and lots of oil in the cylinder. Resulted in a broken spark plug that went up and through the exhaust valve (thank got it went through my wastegate and skipped my turbine). Anyway, all said and done, I replaced the plug and gimped my car home while it sounded like a Subaru. Pulled the head and I was missing part of my valve resulting in absolutely no compressoin in the 3rd cylinder. You might be leaking most, if not all, of your compression in a cylinder through the valves or piston rings. Either way, you're looking at a few good hours of work fixing it.

Compression test. ;)

Ok well First i would check to see if your plug wires are hooked up in the right order and check to see if any of them are bad also. #2 do a Compression Test Or Maybe you have a Bad Coil. #3 I Dont know But Just Let Us Know On them 2 Other Things

Also, a good way to test for spark...

Take out one plug at a time, place a screw driver into the tip of the wire where the plug goes. Lay the screw driver and wire on the valve cover and have someone crank the engine (don't touch it). You should see small sparks popping from the metal of the screw driver to the valve cover. It's pretty easy to see and you can't miss it. You'll hear popping too. If there isn't any spark, then you can assume that either that coil or wire is bad and you can go from there also.

one of my injectors is dead i removed each wire one at a time and the last one i did the car didnt change so im guessing its not working.... time to toss in the 550s

ok changed a the little box below the coil no change. im going to change my coil ive got another cam angle sensor and resistor pack to try as well im totally stumped. any ideas what it could be is it possible my maft could be the problem ?

well i was wrong but not totally it ended up being the injector plugs 2 of the broke off inside and i thought they were connected. i had two plugs laying around and fixed them and realized that a injector seal wasnt in correctly went to fix that and another injector plug wire broke off inside the plug :( so im hoping i can find an injector plug and it should be fixed then its tuning the 550s in yay....

Funny how I read the thread and came into here to post that exact problem up LOL. I had an injector clip break on me (cyl 4) and it sounded like a subaru. Once I got the new ones in everything was fine. good job on the fix!
