hi, my car sat for about 8 months with about half a tank of gas. I replaced the crappy bosch plugs with NGKS, replaced the bad ISC motor with new one and it doesn't idle surge no more. Question is the car runs extremely slugglish, could it be the gas being so old that it lost it's octane rating and the ecu is retarding the timing so much that it's sluggish? also when I first start it up the idle doesn't start high and then settle down like before it just sits at steady 2k rpms. Would the ISC motor be causing this? Is it possible I installed it 180 degrees wrong? matching the bolts up but flipped around? or does that matter? I know it's usually coolant sensors which dictates when the idle should start steadying. Also the motor kinda shakes a lot more than before but can account that to the old gas?

btw: i replaced the spark plug and valve cover seals, pcv valve and oil cap and now no blue smoke or oil in spark plug galley which I thought my rings were going. At least something good at of this.LOL
Also can I just add fuel treatment to the gas already there? reason is car is location where draining gas tank is not a option.

need answers asap.

thanks

8-month-old gas without using Stabil is definitely going to make your car run crappy....

I would try to drain the gas out anyway. What is making you say you can't do it? All you need its one of those pass-through pumps that will start a siphon for you. Just drain it into a container and put it in your lawn mower or something :p

The bad gas is one reason the car is running shitty.

If your idle is always that high i'd check to make sure your TPS and thorttle cable are adjusted properly.

Did you run a boost leak test? That could be causing both issues.

Don't bother with fuel booster just let the car run until the gas is gone.

Do you have a logger? If not you shoudn't own a dsm until you get one LOL

The reason I can not do it is it's sitting at my gf's parents house to temp. store it. Don't have access for tools to drain it out. Before it idle surged when it was idling fine it was at normal 700-1k. Now after I fixed the idle surge it's at around 1k-1200. The weird thing is that when you first start it up after it's been sitting it doesn't idle high to keep it going like most cars. It just sits at a steady rpm. Is it possible to install the ISC motor 180 deg wrong? or does that not matter? I am getting a pocket logger but I just have it stored temp. for now and need it to get running right to transport for further work on it. would it also be better for the fuel system to run the fuel cleaner or would it not matter?

any ideas?

thanks

I highly doubt the ISC motor is the problem. Don't bother with a fuel cleaner, it doesn't matter.

You need to run a boost leak test like i said before. You more then likely have a huge leak causing your idle to be high.

You where dicking with the thorttle body and intercooler pipes so thats more then likely a boost leak.

Get the logger and run a boost leak test. Don't even bother posting until thats done.

I was in a similar situation as my car was on jack stands for 1.5 years due to a blown up trans and I left the country for a while. Turn the boost down and just drive it until it's gone. Also replace the fuel filter as well as there is most likely crap in the gas tank. Also the high idle is very like a boost leak.
