Usually after having sat around for a while(4+ hours) when I start my car it will run HORRIBLE. On three cylinders it seems(this morning I think it was running on two).

The engine shakes violently, and when I pull one of the plugs it doesn't affect the engine. I've replaced the plugs and wires and my next step will be the coils, but I wanted some other opinions.

I have a CEL for "Multiple cylinder misfire" that ALWAYS stays on, but usually after the first 30 seconds the shaking goes away and the car runs beautifully.

Basically... I start the car, it runs horrible, when I try to rev it up I feel the car shake, so I slowly rev it until it goes away, then I can drive. If I try to take off in first I have to floor it before I'll get enough movement. Again, after 15-30 seconds it usually stops.

However, this morning it was horrible and the car would idle between 0-300 rpms and would die repeatedly. I basically had to floor it to keep it from dying.

Help would be VERY MUCH APPRECIATED.

BTW, it's a 1999 Eclipse GS Manual

Sounds like you have a coolant temp. sensor that is going bad. It is what judge's how much fuel your car get's until it cycle's into closed loop...or is it open loop...one of the two. That would affect just your startup and how it run's until it's warmed up. Try checking the wires for opens or anything along those lines. Either that or buy some odd chance your base timing got off really far and computer is over compensating for it after a while.

Wouldn't that send a code to my CEL? The only codes that read are Multiple Cylinder Misfire and single cylinder misfires.
How do I check my sensors/change them? And.. how can I check my base timing? ;x

well, I'm replacing my coils and I'm cleaning my fuel system. Hopefully one of the two work, anyone else got ideas?

i have the same problem.i didnt have a thermostat on before so i guess my coolant temp sensor wasnt getting really hot.now that i put in a thermostat and the temp reaches the middle, after like 15 mins i turn it on and it sounds like its running on 3 cylinders.likes it running pig rich.im going to change my coolant sensor see what happens
