Car refuses to go forward...

A while back I was out driving around, just got my new turbo on and wanted to flog on the car some. Did a hard 2nd-3rd gear pull and all the sudden I got a horrible noise coming from the trans side of the car almost like something was grinding constantly I turned around and headed home very slow but noticed that every shift resulted in a nasty grind noise. It didnt shift really bad almost like the clutch was having issues. A few days later I fired the car up and backed out in my street and had a friend listen to the noise....gave it some gas and the whole front end locked up and the whole car was shaking. got out and tried to push the car forward but it refuses to go forward, doesnt matter if its in gear or neutral but it will roll backwards. Im gonna pull the transfer case and see if it will roll forward and if that doesnt work im gonna pull the trans out and see whats going on. Im just curious if any of you have seen something like this ever happen before?

not only pull the x-fer case, pull the tranny. you have some serious issues.

was gonna pull the T case and let the car down to see if it will roll, if it does roll with no problem I would assume the problem would be the T case.

have you ever heard of any problem like this before?? cause in my 7yrs of dsm experience i havent haha its kinda got me confused..WTF

The 95 tsi I bought has a similar problem as yours. Everytime I would put it in gear and let the clutch out, it would make a grinding niose and wouldn't move. However I could drive around all day in reverse. I bought the car as a project car so I didn't find out the problem yet. I did pull off the t-case and found it to be completely lacking of oil. I think that would probally be my problem. Good luck!

haha... I hope the tcase is the only problem, I should just get off my ass and get a new shep trans/clutch/flywheel while im at it. my 2600 is getting kinda old.

If you put the car back together, please let me know the results.
