car Knockin what could it be??

im going to buy a 97 gst with 111k miles on it at a steal price of 1k body and interior in great shape guy says it runs but is knocking is it gona need a rebuild or what could it be??

rod knock, you need to rebuild the engine.

thats what i was thinking but worth picking it up for cheap price and drop couple grand in it and have a dd thanks for the reply

rev the motor to where you hear the knock and then pull each plug wire and when the noise stops after you pull the plug wire then that is the cylinder that spun a rod bearing.

When does it knock? I had a car that knock at low rev but went away at high revs it was balance shaft.

Well it is more likely to be a rod, But you may get lucky.
