Hey guys so my car seems to jitter and jerks when i hit boost it accelerates fine but just with the jerks and jitters so i took a look at my engine and i hear some type of exhaust leak coming from the turbo headers/manifold and the turbo where they connect can this cause that type of jerking or cause the engine to jitter when trying to accelerate im assuming its just a gasket that went bad. Also one more ? i just did my first mod i just installed a Apexi turbo timer :D anyways before the install, i have a control to lock and unlock the car but after i installed the turbo timer it wont work and i have to wait for the car to completely shut down before i can lock it on unlock it 2nd it wont make the little beep or anything saying its unlocked or locked. My buddy told me different cars take different affects when installing the turbo timer? like his car everything will shut down after taking the key out and in my Talon the radio will stay on until the car completely shuts down. Sorry for the long ?'s hopefully i can get some help thanks guys! :thumb:

Do you have a aftermarket Boost gauge to determine if your getting boost at all? Perform leak test yet? And sounds to me like where you tapped your turbo timer, you short circuit the alarm system, make sure they have individual power sources and adequate voltage.

Also, your grammar is horrible, this isn't a text forum, use your "shift" keys.

Ok as far as the turbo timer goes you most likely hooked it up wrong they're not supposed to have ill effects on your car. Also there is no need for a turbo timer anyway if the rest of your car is stock TT's are used to let the turbo cool down which is mainly needed on turbo's that don't run coolant through them. As far as the "Jitters" and "Shakes" go did it do it before you put the turbo timer on or no? Once that is answered we can go from there.

Hey newbie do some research first before your post

how about you help him instead of being a rude about it

are you running more boost then stock? Also what turbo do you have?

To fix the TT issue, look up the wiring diagrams, and use the instructions that came with your unit.
I'm not sure what you mean by "jitters". Here are some causes of sputtering and hesitation:

A car that is running rich will seemingly not accelerate, sputter badly, and smell, if its real bad.
Lean, it will sputter and not accelerate correctly.
With a boost leak the car won't generate boost correctly and sputter under acceleration.
With a vacuum leak you would have a sputter and an erratic idle.
A bad spark plug/wires will cause the car to hesitate and sputter.
Bad gas will cause sputter too.

^^+1 look at the spark plugs.. mine was doing something similar and turns out my spark plugs had been annihilated!

The car has been doing it since i bought and its all stock and original the only thing that the car has is the Apxi TT which i just installed yesterday. I look at my stock boost gauge and it doesnt seem to lag or act weird when boost kicks in, It holds in the positive and when i let off it goes back to vaccum. Like i said i hear some type of exhaust leak from the manifold and the turbo, but once the car gets hot it stops but the car will still jitter or hesitant. ill defitnetly look into the sparkplug wires. Thanks for the TT advice ill defitnetly look into because we didnt cut any wires we used some type of clips where you just put the wires in and close it and it pinches the wire to get connection sorry dont know what those are called.

Well i just checked the spark plug wires and they were all connected and in good condition. I started my car up and i notice when it would idle that it would idle smooth for a few seconds then have a little ruff idle, like the motor would shake a bit then it would go back to the smooth idle. Also i was looking at my RPM's and it would fluctuate up and down fom 750 to 900 RPM. So im assuming i definitely have a Vaccum leak or Exhaust Leak? Thanks guys!

Sounds like a small vacuum leak somewhere.
I think those clips you described are alligator clips. They are good but, you should look after them to make sure they are still in good condition from time to time.

Did you check the spark plugs themselves? Meaning, pull them out, you should really just replace them, I did when i first bought my car. Don't just visually look at your wires, you could have a bad one and it looks fine, pull them off and inspect the connections.

Yes i actually just got done! I pulled my wires off and one broke!!! Also i checked my Spark Plugs and they were toast! So i went and bought a new set of plugs and wires and the problem is fixed! Car runs way stronger and doesn't hesitate or jitter anymore, I also bought some injector cleaner and added that! Car still fluctuates Just a little seriously like between 700-750 RPM i think thats normal right? What is the normal idle for these cars? Thanks guys appreciate the help!:thumb:

750 but that normal you cant expect a 16 year old car to idle perfect
