Ok, i just had installed some new IC piping and new ram intake system with the Greddy Type S BOV, and car runs great now, very noticeable difference, but when i accelerate hard sometimes the car will seem to like backfire right before it shifts, it revs up, and is like jerks real hard, then just keeps on goin like normal. The car is an Automatic and as far as how to tune the BOV i have no idea, heres a pic of wut it looks like

now it says turn right for soft and left for hard, right now the screw above the thing that tells u which way to turn is pretty tight, is that screw there the only thing u tighten or loosen?

So is it even the BOV that is causing this problem, or does it sound like the transmission slipping? But seeing as how its never happened till now and how the car does stutter when the BOV releases the air figured it prolly be that.

If it happened before the bov, I would say a fuel filter or the injectors. But, since you just installed the bov, it is the bov that is causing it. Are you venting? If you are, recirculate it.

About the screw on the top, it is only tight because the bolt is tight around the top. Loosen it and then unscrew it some or screw it in more.

Well, theres a hose coming from behind the BOV thats connected to the intake, so i guess that means its venting, but i hear ppl say "just tune or adjust ur BOV setting" is that bolt above the "turn this way or that way for soft/hard" the adjusting levels, how do u know which lvl of tightness or wutever is right, Everything in my car is stock cept for the intake, IC pipes, BOV, and exhuast, so i dont have the best mods to be running much higher than stock PSI. So how should the BOV be set at for now then???? =(

I had the almost same problem, it ended up being my UICP. It was blowing off. So I would suspect some boost leakage issues. Good luck.

what is the UICP the under intercooler pipe or something (wild guess) how would u got bout fixing this boost leakage probleml? Any info helps. Thanks.

UICP is the upper intercooler pipe, the one that hooks up to the BOV. Do a boost leak test and see how that goes, also how much psi are you running right now?

ya well i dont really know how to do a boost leak test, and i guess it would prolly help if i had a Boost Controller and an aftermarket Boost Gauge cuz i have no way telln how much boost im runnin right now, but i didnt check all the hoses make sure they all connected good and tight.

ok i'm going to give ya a quick 101 leason free of charge

ok venting a bov or blow off vavle
means that your not returning the air back into the take system the the bov expes when it open up,its a hose the goes back into the intake pipe right before the turbo do not disconect it

ok 2 if you don't have a boost controller yet you proably still in the 9-12 psi range no big problems there

ok now as far as the bov settings go the bov soft and hard are as follows a softer setting will allow tha bov to open at lower psi more easy a hard setting is for when you start to run more boost ya need the spring in side it to be stiffer as for it not to open as easy to presusre going through the intake

easyest way to set the bov up

take your car for a drive set the bov to a nice soft setting get into it and listen for a hishing sounds like a tire going flat that means your bov is leaking off pull over loosen the set screw up and take your allen wrench and tighten it up a bit and repate till you don't here the leaking off sound but when you shift it make a nice ccchuusshhhh sounds with no problems

you will probably need to do this again once you doo a few more mods but you coulda got a 1g bov for cheaper with just a good results the first round of mods you should think about is exhuast boost guage mbc and some sort of tuning tool like a afc or dsm link i would start out with a afc and stuff first till ya get the swing of things dsm's aren't to complicated but the best thing is to do lots of reading up and follow the hp recipes that have been proven time and time again hope this helps

edit also as far a a boost leak tester you willneed 5 bucks worth of home depot suplies and a air compresor i'm sure there a read up in the tech articles

aight thanks shaggie, that helps out a lot more, ill do some test drives tomorrow and try and get it workn right, but ya only reason i got this set up i did is cuz i got the intake, and the Greddy BOV+IC Pipes which those 2 came as a package and got all 3 for $300 includin shippn and all that which i thought be my best deal for right now, i know its not best but its a start, and i can always upgrade later and ya i already got exhaust, and boost gauge/controller is deff next on my list after another paycheck or 2. Thanks again.

hehe no problem man i know how those stock upper pipes are a killer on the 2g's btw since your is a 95 you should have a eprom ecu for dsm link just as a fyi
