My car won't crank over, When I try to start it i just hear the fuel pump or some noise like that, and my lights dim for a sec, just while the key is over when i let off the lights go back to normal, but no starter at work as if my motor was siezed, but after about 4-5 times i try to turn it over the car starts a little slow at first barely noticable and then it just starts perfect?. I have a new battery and alternator. The voltage at the battery is 13.2v and the alternator is 13.4v when the car is on. I had to remove the plug on the alternator the wires started touching and the cable connected on the alternator drains my battery if i leave it on, so i leave it disconnected, Any one have any ideas? could it be this probelm with the cable? It's a 5spd too.

Wow, electrical problems are a lot of fun to trace down. When you say the wires are touching, does that mean that they have cracked or broken insulation? If so, closing those wires back up is a good idea. If I were you, I would check to see what is drawing voltage. Are you door pins workin correctly? Is your stereo hooked up right. (if its after market) I've seen a lotta boys hook their amps up so they are on full time and then wonder why their battery goes dead. IF the battery is going dead theres a drain somewhere. I would also take the starter to get load tested and see what kind of voltage it is taking to get it to work. Have you load tested the battery as well? A battery that wont take a load will die quickly even if it tells you it has a full charge. While your at it check out the fluid level in your battery, its quick insurance. If its low, fill with distilled water only. You shouldn't have to disconect anything in your car from the factory to keep the battery from draining. Trace the wires to the find the problem. G'luck man!

yup its the plug with the drain because when its one the battery will drop from 11 volts to about 7 volts in about 2-3 hours or somtimes 1-5 minutes depends, i take it out and no problem battery is fine and alt is putting out good voltage, (13.5) but now that i found out the plug is bad ever since i have been having trouble starting the car with the plug bad, as if i am trying to crank the motor without the clutch pedal down. I turn the key and nothing not even a click, but after 3-5 intents the car start up??
