Car falls on its Face and then Black Smoke

So i get into boost, it climbs up to 10 psi and somewhere between 8 and 10 it slams/falls on its face like it hit a brick wall, i look in the mirror and see clouds of thick black smoke. It was so thick the cars behind me had to move in the other lane(it was good there were no cops behind me). It's quiet, no popping or anything. It does in in any gear, but It happens to be that violent in 3rd. I let off the gas, car goes back to normal driving.

I just did a search and didnt find anything that would help him, unless he already knew what the problem was. Check for boost leaks and get back to us.

you need to hook me up with your search technique or settings. i have better luck searchin random problems on google and find'n a link back to tuners. when i search on tuners, i can put in a specific topic (i.e. boost leak) and it will give me 2 billion threads that may have the word "boost" or "leak" in them, that actually have nothin to do with boost leak. PITA

Haha i guess it does take a while to get used to, but dont use full sentences.

Lets say for this guy his cars falling on its face and blowing black smoke.
He would have put, "loss of power and lots of black smoke" so break that down to "power loss smoke" and answers wha la!

well from all these threads i got two things - spark plugs and wires and boost leak.

All other possibilities are out of question, because i keep with maintenance on regular bases ( its a 94 car, I have to). All gaskets are new, turbo is new, last compression check was 190 across the board, no exhaust leaks. There's no actual loss of power until this particular moment.

Ill do the boost leak test tomorrow and get back

Well finally did a BLT and I found a major leak between the compressor housing the cartridge. The o-ring seal was recently changed when the turbo was rebuilt. I've never heard of turbo leaking there.

Use Google's site argument as in:

smoke black "boost leak" site:DSMtuners

That Google command will only search dsmtuners for pages with the words smoke and black and the phrase "boost leak".

Using the site argument gives you the full flexibility of Google to search only the dsmtuners site. Use the dsmtuners search to search only for words in the thread title.
