Ok guys, just took my car through a car wash because I was feeling lazy and had a couple bucks. Now, after the wash I pull onto the road and my car falls on its face. No back firing, no boost. I can drive it around gingerly........but it will damn near die when I get into it a little  Would someone please tell me what to do, everything is normal on the logger and i have no codes. Did something get wet and just needs to dry?? Please help, this is a dumb problem to have, especially since my dsm looks very pretty right now and wants to be driven ;)

Pull your spark plugs, see if they got wet.

I'm curious how my plugs could have gotten wet?? I just went through a car wash, exterior only. The hood was closed.

Your CAS sounds like it got wet. The seals on the sensor get old and will allow water to get through causing sensor damage. Check www.vfaq.com on howto wash the car's engine bay. Pay special attention on how to dry the car afterwards. As to how it got wet, I haven't a clue.

If the CAS got wet and damaged wouldn't it throw a CEL??

I have my filter down low behind my fog light....could the car wash have soaked it with water? Would that cause it to stall like that?

Yes if your air filter is down by the fog light opening it will get wet. And with a wet air filter all your doing is sucking in water. Until you suck all the water out of it, it's not going to run right. Either move the filter or make a cover for it when you go through the car wash. :thumb: :talon:

OK guys update:

Let the car sit over night and took out the plugs....not wet.
Went for a test drive w/o a filter and the car is still doing it so water isn't the culprit.
I have the air sensor code on my logger??

I'm using a maft, could it have gotten wet? Its mounted under the hood.

When it stalls i can smell fuel like the car is running rich :barf:

sounds like my problem, no boost, and misifiring......... im still lost on mine.

Sounds like to me the water was able to get to your air filter(got it wet) and was causing the mas to send misinturpted signals to the ecu from sucking too much moisture through the intake. It should dry out and be fine afterwards. I havent had that problem yet with my eclipse but I did have the same problem with my firebird

OK guys here is the update:

I unplugged my maft and reinstalled my 2g mass............problem went away!!

So now I know the problem is either the gm mas, or the translator.

Is it possible that the car wash chemicals messed up the gm mas? Is there a way to clean it or check to see if it damaged??

How do I check to see if
1. The translator is functioning
2. The gm mas is functioning

hhm.. i would tip on the gn mas..as gm mas are used in opels and saabs..and those things go bad all the time..yes,weve had people wash their cars(we have a car wash at our shop) with the engine running..only to have them come in and say the CEL is on,they just washed their car..thats why we got a sign saying DONT RUN ENGINE ...

id let it dry out a day or too and try it again.. if it still doesnt work, get a new one (no point in getting a broken one from a junk yard leading your trouble shooting down a wrng path)

do any of your friends have a simular set up? does your dads car happen to have a gm mas?

I wish, then it would be a 5 sec test..........if his mas worked in my car problem solved!!!! I guess i'm going to go on a hunt for a mass. Is it common for these things to go out?? I figured that all the chemicals in the wash probably messed up the sensors...........
