With my 1996 420a talon it seems that my car dies only when taking left turns whether it be every time or just at random but only when taking a left. My car has had past problems but have been just about all fixed until this started to happen.
- I am not sure but think a CL is on but not sure cause my entire gauge cluster is broken ( any ideas on fixing that?)
- The problem is getting to be very annoying and the car will start back up every time and drive until I take another left.
Any thoughts.

Go to autozone and ask them to tell you what the code for the check engine light is, then bring it back to this forum or reasearch the code.

My friends Mustang has the same problem, when he turns left it cuts out. It has got to be something loose like a ground or something. Or a wire hitting the frame of somerthing like that. Keep looking around the car for any wires that can ground out on the frame.

Yes I agree if the battery isn't tied down it can short out against the nearest metal (sometimes the hood). If not that a loose wire that touches something or no longer makes a connection while turning left. A very rare case I've seen is a broken gas tank pickup tube that is dangling and rises to the top when turning left. Or gas tank baffles (not sure if dsm has them) get broken so the gas swishes all to one side away from the pickup tube. But check out the first two ideas first.

My buddys 99 GS did the same thing, turned out to be the coil pack was going bad. He changed that, and it was fine afterwards.

The first thing I thought of is the fuel pickup is on the driver's side/left side. One can get fuel starvation on a healthy GSM in an extended fast left turn with less than a half tank of fuel. Due to a great suspension setup and very sticky tires I would always have to autocross with at least 3/4 tank of fuel to avoid fuel starvation. Combine slower speed left turn with a failing fuel pump and that could also cause fuel starvation.

If it's the crankshaft angle sensor your CEL light is coming on about, you might want to look into getting the crankshafts movement inspected. Not trying to be the one in every thread who is like OMG CRANKWALK, but that is a noted symptom of crankwalking engines

On a 420a?

My battery is held in its spot very well and when the car dies I still have electrical power for the hole time so I would not think that that would be it, could it be the Crank pos sensor, where is that located on a 96 420a? and my distributor pack was loose on the valve cover if that could cause any of this.

-I cant really scan tool my car cause a scan tool says that it is never hooked up even when it is and the people at oriellys said that a main ecm fuse is causeing this is that true?

Well my Crank position sensor was gunked to hell so I unplugedd it and pulled the sensor and cleaned them completly with electrical contact cleaner put it back in and the car runs great.
-Thanks for the help
