Car dies when radio is on

I have a 93 talon. When im driving around and have the radio on and i push the clutch in and go into neutral it will die but start right back up. But when i have the radio off it will run fine and wont die at all. I don't understand why it would do this. Any ideas?

Your radio power wire may not be connected to a "true" power source (one that goes to the battery positive). A non true source is one that appears to have power but actually goes through another device first before the battery.

Either that or you have a very weak battery or alt.

+1 for having your battery and alternator checked. They will do this for free at any advance auto, autozone, or Oreillys

Whats your idle do, when you turn your headlights on?.

Also turn your headlights on at night, turn on the radio and see how bad the lights dim. If they dim really bad and your car dies, you either have a bad battery or alternator. But a quick simple test at autozone will give you a for sure answer for that.

What is your battery voltage with radio on then off (both with engine on and off).
