hey guys i was wondering if any of you have had this problem... when im driving around, lets just say im in third.. when i take the car out of third (happens when i take it out of every gear) and put it in neutral the car it drops all rpms and dies. i dont have any serious mods and it only started doing this after i put an ECU in (which i bought from a guy on here) i dont see how the ECU can cause this though. im going to do a compression test tomarrow cause i think it may be losing compression after being ran up to about 4000 and then put straight to 700 but i dont know ill find out. any suggestions are appreciated.

An ECU Can definetly cause that. Pop it open, verify the capacitors aren't leaking all over the circuit board, it happens in a ton of 1G ECU's. Other than that, your bov is recirculated correct? If not, that will do it. Check the connection at the MAF as well, that might be it. Also verify that WOT is 100%, you might have slack in the throttle cable. Let us know the results of the compression test.

I had the exact same issue with my 2g. I was running a greddy bov vented to the atmosphere, and the car would die out of gear. For me, it turned out to be a combination of the bov venting to the atmosphere(which is no good to start), as well as the seat on the bov diaphram being broken and leaking. Do a boost leak test and get back to us.
Cheers

ok cool. umm... i have the turbo xs BOV that has exit holes all around the bov and i dont even think they make a recirc kit for it.... its the same flange as a 1g bov though so ill just pick one of those up. thanks for the replies everyone!
