Whats up guys, I was looking aroud to see if anyone else had this problem but couldnt find any cars that wouldnt pass stock haha. My car is completly stock and failed horribly the other day when i went to get emissions. At 2500 rps test the HC reading was 3039 and the limit here is 220, and the CO% is 10.36 with a limit of 1.20! At idle the HC was 906 and CO% was 4.90. I did a boost leak check and have no leaks, gaped my plugs to .028 and had a bunch of vacume lines that havnt been hooked up for a long time from the looks of them. I used the vac diagram from All Data. Im not really sure what to do next, any ideas? Thanks

On my first test with my '90, I failed also in the HC area with a 2600 reading and the min. was also 220.

But with a tuneup (thing was off 7*) new plugs, changeout the O2 sensor, get all vacuum lines solidly connected..and the most important thing was a simple oil change, (since the HC stuff resides in dirty oil) right before my next sniff test, drove it on the freeway for a half hour to get the thing fully hot then went and did the sniff test, I passed in flying colors, for the HC number fell way below our also requirement of 220 at idle which I didn't need the high RPM test, and I hit it good with 105 where I was already good in CO readings since my CAT was recently replaced.

Some tips to think of. good luck - DSM

aight weill do, my only problem is i cant really drive it, last time i drove it it got inpounded.. cant get a tag without emissions cant find out if its good to go cause i dont have a tag, yay for stupid laws.....

i get to go for mine this week. yay! haha. failed miserably last time but got a thing that said basically it required more than 400$ of work to fix it...so i got my sticker. but since then got new cat, new O2 sensors, new plugs that i gapped and new wires. gonna get an oil change and pray to god it passes.
