Ok Iv been working on putting in a new clutch, flywheel and motor mounts for a few days now with the help of some friends. I havnt been rusing it so i dont make stupid mistakes, and to this point everything has gone fairly smooth. I have all the crap in the engine bay removed that needs to be. Three of the Four motor mounts have been removed (Except the one by the timing belt). I have a Large Jack uder the Oil Pan right now with a block of wood between them. I am able to move the engine up and down, pivoting at the one motor mount. However when I try to lower the tranny side down enough to enable me to unbolt the remaining bolts on the bellhousing and pry it off, The damn tranny gets stuck on the Frame of the car. The back part of the transmission is catching on the part of the frame that looks like its the bottom of the fire wall going from on side of the car to the other. I am fallowing the directins in the Haines manual very carefully and They say the best way is the lower the tranny out the bottom, not take the entire engine out. Has anyone run into this problem berfore? And does anyone have a solution?

Thanks

P.S.- It is a 1998 Eclipse GST.

Why do you have to lower the transmission to get the bolts off? which bolts are you having trouble getting out? lets see some pics.

You shouldnt need to lower the engine to get the tranny out. This may seem dumb, but im assuming you removed the gusset(cross member) right? If you tilt the passenger side of the trans down first, it should slide right out.
