I cant get my evo3 16g to go past 17-18psi. I am running the Greddy Profec B spec @ electronic boost controller. I just replaced all vac. lines and couplers and checked for boost leaks. There were no boost leaks. What is the problem?

all current mods in are profile. this issue has nothing to do with fuel, spark or tuning. It is related to the turbo, internal wastegate, boost controller.

well when i go to turn the boost up on the BC the boost just stays at 10-11psi which means something in my settings are most likely not right. I have a crushed 1g bov so holding 20psi shouldnt be an issue

Electronic boost controllers = fail

Is there really any reason to run an electronic unit? Even some of the big boys are still using the old school MBCs IMO electronic parts equal more room for headaches.

do you have your vacuum lines hooked up to the right ports on the boost control solenoid? you need your lines hooked up to the "no" and "com" ports. with the other left open. the "no" port gets a pressure source and the "com" port goes to your wastegate actuator.

I have a crushed 1G BOV and it won't go over 18 psi either. That's more than likely your problem.

i spent a whole day making sure everything was and is hooked up right. im thinking about just getting an mbc but i dont want to waste money if the bc isnt the problem. which mbc is cheap but can hold 30+ psi. im going to want to use it when i upgrade? hallman pro?

I'm using one made of parts you can find at a hardware store. I was lazy and just bought one off ebay for $15. Look up the NXS MBC.

I'm running 22psi on my small 16g, and I'm not having any problems with it. It is starting to get a bit touchy though at these higher boost levels. An 1/8th of a turn is now 3psi.

I would say get an mbc (I have a hallman es the cheapest model and works great) and maybe a new bov. I couldn't get passed 22 psi and it was my greddy type s restricting me. Went to the new hks and holds 30 fine.

Just make one. An MBC basically blocks the boost source to the WGA causing it to open later. The more you tighten the screw down the more restriction you put on the wastegates boost source allowing you to run more boost. You will know if the BOV isn't holding by doing a simple BLT my crushed 1g holds 26psi no issues.

Electronic boost controllers = fail

The ProfecB = win. Especially with FF. The remote switch on the wheel is perfect for traction. I absolutely love it. Parts fail. Anything can.

I agree to swtich out to a MBC to rule-out a possible problem. Are the switches on the back of the controller setup right? Got any pics of how you Profec is hooked up?

i have the profec b spec 2. my friend has an extra mbc so im going to try that out.

That's a start. All you should need to do is pull the vacuum lines off the solenoid and put them on the MBC. Don't tear all the Greddy stuff out unless you know it's the Greddy! I did this once. LoL!

I would like to say thanks! For taking our suggestions and attempting to apply them, its rather frustrating to give advice and have people argue with you for two or three days and thirty posts later the solution was something already mentioned 893494595 times. :D

I hope you get it fixed. If the MBC doesnt fix it you might check all of your turbo mounting bolts and make sure you dont have any major boost leaks. Intake manifold gaskets can be sneaky and can give the same symptoms.

i will be putting the mbc on tomorrow. i will let you guys know if it fixes the problem or not. if not then i suppose i will just shim the wg

mbc FTW!! finally holds 20psi =) doesnt feel much faster than 18psi though. now its time to do some tuning. Anyone want to buy a Greddy Profec B Spec-2?

no the ebc was set up the correct way. the problem was most likely with the settings. in my opinion it is just a lot easier to turn a screw.

I agree - setup=settings.

However, an MBC does not give any of the tuning ablity an EBC offers such as changing the response of the turbo (quicker spool-up etc).
