toronto,
ok guys, I've put in a solid 6 hours now trying to get these bolts off.
first of all I know there 17mm, but for some reason neither of mine would accept a 17mm.
one of the bolts, came off using a 11/16" socket. I try to put the 17mm on the other bolt, seems to small, try to bang it on.... for a good 25 minutes, NOTHING..
i bang the 11/16" on, it kind of stays on, but as soon as I go to spin it, it falls off; (not strips) the bolt.
I cant saw it off really, it would be very time saving if I could but theres no space at all in that area..
so what should I do, oh and hey for reference every single damn bolt on this car is seized, woohoo for the future....

hmm, if the bolt is really close to something, maybe the end of the socket wrench is hitting and not allowing you to get the socket straight on the bolt. Try using an extension? I know this happens on the 2 bolts connecting the dp to a cat.

Easy.............

just unbolt your o2 housing with the DP still attached and then mess with the DP bolts... after soaking with wd40 or some ZEP...:thumb:

Solution:

Buy a set of metric deep sockets (6 point!)
Get 1/2 inch drive ratchet. Use necessary extension.
Soak nut and bolt in WD-40 or PB Blaster.
Put socket around nut. Cover handle of ratchet with shop towel.
Bang on handle of ratchet with hammer in the direction to loosen it!

Make sure you give solid, hard strikes right on the handle of the ratchet. Trust me it will come loose. PB Blaster is just the thing for this, btw.

Buy an air compressor kit from Wal-Mart. Get an impact wrench (a good, high torque one) and the socket to your downpipe (17mm, if I remember correctly). Soak the sumbitch with PB Blaster every 10 minutes or so for a few times. Use the impact on it and it should come off.

Next, take the tools back to Wal-Mart with your receipt (all neatly wrapped up, mind you) and get your money back... or, keep them for future use; air tools are wonderful; just remember that a torque wrench is your friend.
