Cant Downshift?

I just recently had trouble where I cant downshift into first.I reccently changed my transmission fluid. I cant downshift into 1st wile driving is there anyway the Trans fluid I used would be causing this? It is a 92 Eagle NT with a MT trans. TIA!

why are you trying to downshift into first? good way to ruin your transmission. if your gonna downshift, leave it in second and just push the clutch in until your stopped. or better yet, save the haul on your transmission and just put it in neutral when coming to a stop. it's alot cheaper to put brakes on a car, then it is to put a transmission in.

well check the simple things. Your sure you put in the right fluid, and your sure you have enough in there? Its kind of odd on our cars, but you have to keep adding it untill it starts pouring out the hole...other than that, it worked good before you changed the fluid?

Everyone's tranny works like this. Unless you're going walking pace, the transmission simply won't let you downshift into first, or it'll be very resistant. I know it's a pain when you're pulling into a parking lot in 2nd and want to get into 1st to cruise around while looking for a spot.

it seems to me that all DSMs first gear syncroes suck. therefore don't downshift into first when you're moving. downshift into second if you must... but like BaddAssGst said it's better to wear some brakes than the tranny. one of the first thing to go when people rebuild tranny's for autocross if the 1st gear syncro for a double sync.
