With so much out there I can't decide. I plan on going with a GM MAF and Translator in a blow though setup with a front mount. I want something i can just plug up and thats simple to use and not reqire a laptop or palm. Is there any thing that fits that decription?

Not really. To tune it properly you will need something that tells you what your engine is doing. You could get a wideband O2 sensor, which would just plug in and read like a gauge. You will want something that will fine tune better than the MAFT to use in conjunction with the MAFT. An SAFC seems to be the most popular choice.

What do you mean air/fuel controller? You mean like an SAFC? There's nothing that's going to just plug right in except a new ECU. AEM EMS is $1200, a eprom ECU is $300 plus an eprom burner $100 then you'd have to program it on your own.

You can also contact the guys at DSMChips.com, for about 150 bucks they can set up up with a nice burnt ecu to about whatever specification you want. They do recommend running an safc in conjunction with it though.

Only if he has an eprom ecu.

If he has an eprom that can get flashed, there usally pretty close and a tuning device would only be used for fine adjustments. Although, between the safc and the maft, I would believe the maft is a better choice since you get rid of that restrictive stock mas, and also you can move the filter to outside of the engine bay. You can vent your bov also if you like.

No matter what you go with, youll need a laptop or palm to tune it. You use the devices to make adjustment, but you still need to figure out what those adjustments need to be. So youll need a laptop or palm to use for datalogging.
