can i reuse this oil pump

so how does this oil pump and front case look? im wanting to reuse it, it came out of a 90 6bolt with 130k on the clock

This is what the factory service manual has to say. I personally have reused 2 oil pumps with no issue, but if your building a motor for higher power levels, it's nice to have the piece of mind that its a new quality part.

A lot of people believe that you should replace the pump any time your rebuilding a motor first time, and A lot more believe it doesn't matter. It comes down to personal opinion, after you verify it checks out as per the service manual. Make sure you use a "certified strait edge" to check the side play (second pic).

Some of the newer made oil pumps have helical gears that are a bit quieter than those strait cut ones too.
