Can A Turbo Motor be Put In A Non Turbo 90 gs?

Ok I have found a 90 Eclipse GS 1.8 SOHC with tons of miles on it for $600. I think I may be able to get him talked down to 4 or 500. My question is it possible to drop a 1g Turbo motor into this car? Any info you guys can give me would be appreciated. I am really looking to get me a 1g and having some fun with it. Thanks

Yea you can drop a turbo motor or a 2.0 n/t in there if u got the time and money, lots of people are doing it and its a great way to get good hp but you will need engine, tranny, ecu and all necessary parts to make it work, will take a while and will cause many headaches but propably worth it.:dsm:
 
I understand why a 1.8 to 2.0 turbo conversion wouldn't work, but how about a 4g63 n/t to turbo conversion? Is that very difficult? The reason I'm asking is becasue a friend is willing to sell me a rear end totaled 93 TSi with 5 speed and I would like to swap the motor (and maybe the tranny) into my 93 ES. Is this more trouble than it's worth? I'm getting a great price on the car so I don't really want to pass it up.

i just did a 1.8 to 2.0 turbo swap i even used the 1.8 f5m22 manual tranny and it works great. swap for me was cheap and was relativly easy and straight foward. i still got some bugs to work out but nothing major.
 
first off i had a complete car for parts and engine. use the turbo engine wiring harness and ecu. u gotta tear everything out of the dash heater ac fan blower boxes to take wiring harness out and install the new engine harness. the f5m22 tranny bolt right up to the 2.0 turbo engine but u need to use the 2.0 n/t flywheel, clutch kit and starter. only engine mount u need to change is the 1 that bolts to the driverside fender well. the tranny and center motor mounts on the brace are the same. if u got more quesstions feel free to pm me. i still got alot of bugs to work out on my car like my guage cluster isnt working and i got no turn signals.
 
How hard would the opposite be, meaning dropping in a 90-91 Turbo motor into a 94 n/t 2.0???
