can 420a crankwalk?

Okay after reading and looking forever i have to ask...i have a 1998 eclipse GS....and i was wondering about crankwalk in a 420a, does crankwalk mainly just have problems in the 4g63 cause thats all i seem to find in the crankwalk posts. and i am looking into engine rebuilt and possibly goin turbo latrer on with my 420a so will that change crankwalking any?

easily put do the 420a have problems with crankwalk like i read with 4g63? is it all 7 bolt or just 7 bolt 4g63?

420a's don't suffer from crankwalk =D muhahaha, just another thing that the 4g63 has that we don't.

That's right. Any motor with a crank and crank bearings can crankwalk. It's just extremely unlikely for most cars though. I only know of one design to have the problem (cough 7bolt cough), but I'm sure it has happened to other motors.....

I've heard Miata engine suffer from the same plague as 4g63s

As said before, any motor can crankwalk. It all depends on the bearing clearences. This is why any time you build any motor, you must always measure crank end play to see if its in spec.

Crankwalk in a 4g63 can happen but it's overrated. I don't want to rain on the 420a parade but I have heard of a 420a taking a walk.

Yep any car can have crankwalk !
I don't know if it is considered crankwalk but My rods bearing snaped out and screw my Crankshaft as well a rod. I just put a new motor on it.
I guess that: Been there and hate It! :thumbdown

crankwalk is another symptom of premature crank wear. If you put a harmonic balancer on wrong you can get crankwalk.

Well as far as crankwalking....you really should not worry about it in a 420a

YOU SHOULD worry about spun bearings due to the infamous long right hand turn oil starvation problem.... i personally spun a bearing badly....enough to merit the crank be reworked and oversize (ewww) bearing need to be used...

Solution to this? easy make yourself a baffled oil pan

And i thought there was a fix for stoping CW on 7 bolt blocks?? wasent it all the oil squirters fault? ( according to Magnus CW theory?)

Well, that's just their theory. There are also about 8 other good theorys. Until one of those theorys becomes fact, there will be no fix for crankwalk.

420a's will not crankwalk. period. They *could*, but they will not. end of story.

The only 2 eclipses I have owned (95 GST and 95 GSX) have crankwalked... So in came the 4g63 (6 bolt). They have the same chances to crankwalk as pretty much any engine out there.

I think the person who had it before you was a retard. I have never heard of a 420a crankwalking, however this does not mean it cannot happen.

Speaking of crankwalk, does anyone know what other cars have cw'd? I have heard it is common amount miata's as well...
