Cams Vs Turbo, Input?

Thanks for all the input, well all the useful input that is. Yes we all know awd traction is better but I don't have a big issue with traction. The guys that are having all the problems need to learn how to drive/launch a fwd properly. I know I'm not making a tonn of power but I can pull on a 2000+ corvette and a wrx sti with some bolt-ons. I will probably be throwing in a lsd when I do my clutch in the spring. Im running tokico springs with their illumina adjustable shocks and urthane motor mounts with some 225 ZR rated tires and I don't have any issues with wheel hop so far. Does anyone who had/has an evoIII (or 16g)have dyno or lb/min numbers when they added cams or upgraded to a 50 trim?

With the exact same setup at 20psi on pump gas my 50 trim was half a second and 2mph faster in the 1/4 mile than my Evo 3, I even had a boost leak with the 50 trim...

I think this says more than dyno numbers or lbs/min...

But for Dyno numbers, I put down 55 more AWHP with the 50 trim with roughly 3 more psi.

What everyone else has said is great about the speciific turbos. But what you have to ask is whether or not you want the most out of a turbo that you can have. Now if you put some cams in your car on the 16g then you would still be gaining hp and some high end. Then later in the year you can sell the 16g after you have maxed it out and then go from there with the cams on the new turbo.

That would be your best bet imo.

Go with cams, and later on if you want you should be able to straight swap your evo3 for a 50 trim, or sell it and pay just alittle difference in price.

The Evo3 has done 44lbs per min and is propelling a 2800 lb GVR4 here in FL to 119 traps, on FP1's and some headwork. I would do cams, I run a small 16g and they made a huge difference in my setup, a lot more power up top. 119-120 traps are enough to pull on bolton Vettes on the highway, then upgrade to the 50 trim or larger later and you'll be able to get the most out of it. I firmly believe that if you aren't close to maxing out a current setup you won't be much faster on a new one. :thumb:

Thanks for all the input guys. I think I'll go back to my origional thought and get the cams first. I know I can still get more out of my evoIII :thumb: . I guess once I get use to the cams it will be time for a new turbo  . If anyone else has some input keep it coming.

Edit: Does anyone have the link to a bunch of dyno tests done on a 16g with a bunch of different cams? I think it was on the ams website before?

Edit: NM, found the link :thumb:

Couldn't of been said any better. Definitely max out what you've got before you upgrade.
