hey guys im about to have my new motor put in my 1998 gst and i was wondering before i have it installed if i bought some 272 or 280 cams would i have to get the car tuned? the cars a auto im not really to worried about it being fast i just want it to sound crazy!!! but if i have to have it tuned to get the full effect of the cams i will

im getting a new motor installed but i have:

Big 16g turbo
tubular manifold
dejon hard intercooler piping (side mount intercooler)
apexi down pipe no cat
N1 exhaust

Nothing to big but what would i have to do to run a cam and what duration should i get?

dont think u have to but u might have to .

Most defently you should be retuning the car after a cam swap. If your at the level where you need cams, just throwing them in, could make the car slower or even damage something (ie lots of knock when you didn't have knock before).

As I mentioned the more important question is what mods are already done. Adding cams to a basically stock car, just for it to sound "cool", is not only dumb, it will more then likely make the car slower.

Edit: Now that I see the mods, your not ready for cams. You'll run out of fuel well before you'll see any benefit from cams. You need an upgraded fuel system first, then something to control/tune the new fuel setup.
