Just wondering if anyone uses one, and what they think. It is really dusty out here in AZ and one would be handy, but scratches are bad.

I used to use one till I got lazy. It's made out of some soft stuff that's supposedly specially treated with something that's supposed to attract dust. It doesn't scratch your car if you do it right (my car's black, so if it did, i'd definitly know), which basically means not waiting till it's covered in dirt. It's mostly for use no more than a week after a wash, to y'know, get the 'dust' off.

They're amazing. The "special" stuff they're treated with is primarily kerosene. The older and more cruddy they get, the better they work. I have no idea why they don't scratch the living hell out of your paint, but, if used properly, they don't- watch the prep for Concours exhibitions, and you'll see many in use.
What you don't want to do is to try and use them on dirt that's gotten wet and has a grip on the surface. But for the kind of stuff you find after pulling off the car cover, on a recently-waxed car, they're absolutely terrific.
I think Wal*Mart carries them now, besides all the parts shops. They also make one for the interior, and they're hard to beat for reaching the whole dash quickly. But don't use them on the interior glass.

I got mine from walmart, the original california duster 12 bucks or something like that pretty big with a nice simulated leather carrying case .
Definatly smells like kerosene. It works pretty good. I also like using the armor all car wah cloths. They work good as an inbetween washes type thing.

defiant, you think they are safe to use in cases where I am coming home and have to go through small road construction areas where dust/dirt will get on my car because the car in front of me is stirring it up?

I think they are safe enough to use after running thru road construction. I have road/new housing areas going up all around my neighborhood. I have a film of dirt and grime on my car every morning, I break out the duster to get the majority off, then use the car wash cloths from armorall, nice shiney car again.

Don't know how good this is for it or not, but i have the small california car duster and i use it on the interior all the time to dust. i've got a black interior so dust build up accumulates quickly. Everything comes off with just a couple swipes. You can get them at Kragen Auto if you've got any of those around you.

I used one today, wow, they do work well, didn't look like it made any new scratches. Now the interior one...I need that too..LOL...thanks for the advice, I am just very careful when it comes to my car's paint.

ive had mine a few months now and have used it in all different kinds of cases of dust and never had a problem, im always happy afterward, ill wipe down the car and step back and it looks almost like i just washed it. deff good buy

I have one- come in handy in a dusty town. Like when I wash my car during the day and get ready to go out that night and its allready dusty... you dont have to wash it again just give it a quick wipe down :thumb:

I recomend it

I see alot of guys with old hot rods and what not using them, so that makes me feel better too....

I've had my duster for about 3 years now, and it really does work better as it gets dirtier. My car is black, so I consider it a must have. It works well on rims also, especially to keep my polished lip looking shiny.

I love it and would highly recommend picking one up.

That's the sort of thing they're best for, the fresh road dust that's settled on. Just don't do it the next morning after a layer of dew has glued it all to the paint, and don't try it on caked mud.

Yeah I just picked up a generic duster for cheap. Doesn't add new scratches (very important because I just paid a lot for a paint job), and it works fast and great. In my garage my car will collect dust just overnight for some reason. Just bust this thing out and within a minute its perfect looking again. Great product.

great product never seen a scratch yet it made.everymorning i dust my car off and it looks shiny and new again. best investment i made

I also backup this product, I have a black dsm so it works wonders. It does not scratch my paint unless it's dust that has been wet like Defiant mentioned. However I did notice after a while it started leaving these weird marks on my car after dusting. I guess all the dust accumulated and started leaving it's track on the car. I just removed the fabric and soaked it in soap water and put it back on. Works just as good as before.

I just need the small one now for my dash, gets so damn dusty in there.
