okay so i just swapped a 6bolt into my 97 gst... when i plugged the battery back in i heard a pretty loud buzzing from the center console... the buzzing would go away when i turned the key to on... so i ripped her apart checking every relay and making sure it wasnt the ecu when i found these two realys on the passenger side of the center consol under the radio... what are they? why would they be making noise?

when i unplugged the top one as seen in the picture, the buzzing stopped the lower one wasnt making any noise... but when i plugged the top plug into the bottom non-buzzing relay it now started to buzz... and if i plugged the plug from the bottom one into the top buzzing relay, it didnt buzz.... not sure what that means

also when i try to start the car it wont turn... and the fuel pump doesnt kick on when acc is engaged, however when i turn the key past on when its supposed to crank over i hear the fuel pump kick on and stay on as long as i hold the key there...

i need help!

They are your starter and fuel pump relay's. Couldn't tell you which ones which from the picture(I'm a 1g guy)
I'd imagine your starter relay is the one thats bad. It's a common occurence on 2g's for the starter relay to go bad and you get the buzzing or clicking type noise.
Replace it.

i just so happen to have a 95 parts car and this was in the same spot with the same wires going to it just in a little bit different arrangment...

i noticed that when i pulled the top plug from the ecu the noise stops also... considering that only one plug is causing either relay to buzz do you think that my ecu could be bad or maybe i have a short somewhere?

hmm, maybe the second relay's bad too?
It could be your ECU, I've heard of that causing the buzzing sound. Take it out real quick and open up the cover. Give it a good look over, especially at the capacitors. Look for any goo, leaking components, burnt board, fish smell.
Have you checked your wirring harness there, on both ends? Make sure you dont have one loose comming out of the connectors.

sorry I didn't read that first, I guess that would probably eliminate the relay itself.

the ecu has som minor leaking all around... but the car was working solid a few days ago before i swapped this 6bolt in, cranked fine and ran fine other than the bad piston ring...

also the the plug causing the buzz is the fuel relay because without it plugged in the fuel pump wont turn on... which means something else is causing it to not crank over...
what would cause the fuel pump to engage with key turn rather than the starter?

What do you mean by that?

Is your battery dead/drained by anychance? I had mine drained once and it wouldn't turn over but I would hear a buzzing/clicking noise from my relays..
May not be it though.

I'll look around for what might be causing this..

i dont see any major leaks... but i a few spots with some of that dried goo that dripped down...

OK so check this out i want to see why my starter isnt working...

in this picture only the "S" and "B" terminals are supposed to be hooked up... the positive from the battery goes to the B terminal and a small black wire goes the the S clip... and the negative bolts to the tranny...

so does the little black wire to the S terminal come from the ignition? how can i test if its getting signal from the ignition? is there a way i can give a signal to that s terminal to manualy make the starter turn? can i just hook up a small wire from the battery to the S terminal to mak sure the starter is good?

and the battery is brand new and its been charging all day just for fun

Yes, use a jumper wire and apply battery voltage to the starter motor S terminal.
If it turns normaly, then it's one of the following:
in-line between S terminal and battery,
battery or starter connections,
Ignition switch,
starter relay,
clutch pedal position switch or park/neutral switch,
theft alarm

And the goo on your ECU is a problem.. Can you take pictures?
And yes the S connector goes to your ignition switch.

ya i used a wire and she turned normally...

"in-line between S terminal and battery" whats that mean?

i know the battery connections are fine

i guess ill start be checking the ignition switch and starter relay and clutch switch

Between your battery, iginiton switch, and starter.
Check all of the wires off your iginition switches.
Here's the best diagram I have, haha.

ok dont know whats up with that buzzing it just kinda stopped on its own, although im pretty sure the ecu was causing the problem...

i was checkin out the wires and found that the little black wire wasnt connected to the other little black wire that goes into the wire harness

thanks for the help though!
