I have a 96 2g turbo eclipse with bolt ons.. My car started making a loud buzzing noise from the ecu area whenever i tried to start the engine. The buzzing is coming from the fuel pump relay. I have the 2 black relays on a bracket, and i have replaced it with brand new relays from the dealer. I also installed a new fuel pump hoping the motor would start, but nothing...I have checked the ecu and no weird smell, and no sign of leaking capacitors or damage to the board...

Can it still be the ecu??

Any help will be greatly appreciated... Thank you..

if you have no problems other then just a noise, i wouldnt worrie about it. it could be anything, if you are still concered you need to get yourself a cheap stethascope and pin point the noise, after that reply and give more info on it, if its buzzing or a whistling

I had the same problem w/ my 1G and eventually the ecu started to melt OMG !

It seamed that the ecu has an internal voltage regulator that went bad. . . According to Tom at ecmtuning (DSMLink guys). Thankfully he diagnosed it correctly and I got another ecu from the vendor for free. . . Likely your ecu is toast. . . have you researched this?

Your best bet is swapping in an known working ecu. . .

I have researched the forums thoroughly...My car doesn't start, so it's not just a noise issue...Everytime i try to crank the motor, all i get is a loud buzz from my fuel pump relay... My next move will be swapping the ecu with a 95 EPROM ecu..

I cracked open the ecu, can the ecu still be toasted if it has no signs of melting, leaks, burning, or weird smells??

that brings up a good point for me to ask i know i should problem move this question to a different post but i will probly forget it, you said drop in a 95 eprom ecu well i have a 95 and i have both odb1 and 2 ports for the data link, what the hell does that mean anyways.

But on another note i think the only thing you can really do is try n grab a new ecu drop it in and see what happends, i just hope you dont have a wire crossed somewere that is just the problem, i know from experiance that mopar has a bad habbit with running the fuel pump wires under carpet and through a rubber boot which tends to fall out causes a short,

as a matter of fact find yourself a multimeter and a electric diag, i have if you need. and see if for some reason your getting a positive feed on a negative wire, wich could be strong enough to make the pump not work but not enough to pop a fuse and or check your fuses

If you need the electric scamatics for the car just let me know, i have the manys on a ISO cd on my site

i just swapped in a good working eprom ecu, and i still have the buzzing from the fuel pump relay when i try to start the car...Poonman, if you can get me the voltage for the wires to the fuel pump, that'll be great...I'll check the volts and see if something looks unusual... Meanwhile, i'm gonna check the car for a short... Thanks for your help..

Thanx for the diagram Poonman....My voltage is reading correctly....I started doing a check on all the wiring for my aftermarket alarm....I disconnected the alarm wires that are tapped into the vehicle wiring for ignition... The buzzing finally stopped....I'm pretty sure my alarm is the culprit....Now all i need is a wiring diagram for the ignition switch because i'm missing one wire that goes to the ignition harness..I have 5 wires when there are suppose to be six..I'm searching my service manual...

Hey Poonman, can u get a wiring digram or even a description of the wires leading to the igniton switch harness??

I removed my alarm wiring completely and the buzzing stopped....Then i started tapping the starter with a heavy pipe and the car started up after 10 minutes of banging...A local dsm'er had a similar problem and it was his starter that locked up on him....This is my second starter, hopefully my last...Thanks for all the tech help..
