Is it advisable to buy spare parts online like from Amazon and Ebay? Can we return the product if there is a defect or if we don't like the delivered product?

No way to answer on the return policy. You need to look at each item on eBay to see the sellers return policy. Amazon (if you buy from them) has a great return policy. But if it's a third party selling on Amazon then it will be up to them.

As far as buying parts from there goes... As long as it's a name brand part who cares where you get it from. eBay parts get a bad rep because when people say 'eBay parts' they are typically talking about the Chinese knock off crap.

I buy parts from either of those places all the time. Like Dsmcrzy said make sure to double check part numbers and know what you are ordering before hand. Typically when I guy from ebay I know exactly what im ordering. From amazon and sold by amazon is a little more easier to return stuff for what ever reason. I have also returned stuff sold by third party which I ordered then changed my mind not their fault. I just cost me the shipping fee then a few days to process return.

For me Ebay is a one time thing meaning what I order is typically something that i can live with if it dosnt arrive as described or dosnt work(smaller stuff). overall not a big deal IF you do the homework.

Used to work at Amazon, I can verify the return/refund policy is pretty amazing for anything "Sold & Shipped by Amazon."

Anything sold and shipped by a 3rd party seller, is way different however and you should always read the full listing to see what the refund/exchange policy is.

I highly recommend Rock Auto is you are looking for aftermarket replacement parts. Most of the time, they have the cheapest prices. Depending on the part, there are usually a very good selection as far as brands go. The only complaint is the strange warehouse shipping. If you are buying multiple parts at once, you will see what I mean. Easy return policy as well.

Like others have said, if you do buy on Amazon try to buy parts that are 'sold and shipped by Amazon', even if only for the return policy. I've never had a problem sending anything back that was sold by Amazon, but I'm still sitting on some unused truck parts that I ordered from a (large, reputable, well-known) third party seller that I was never able to return.
