Okay well, I'm looking for a nice DSM, hopefully get a GSX, and i think i might have found one.

I want you guys opinion on it. GOod bad, price fit with the mod list. Im kind of scared so see no 6bolt on that mod list with that milage, most likley will be finding a 6bolt in the future(year or so) to put in it if i get it.

Just looking on opinion. I think the car looks cleeeeeeeeean.

well of course, he is trying to sel it, he isnt going to tell me people that he beat the hell out of it.

definatly check compression and make sure it shifts smooth and what not.

i think he's asking way to much for the mileage, you probably get yourself a stock newer model gsx for that price, he's overcharging because of all the parts he put into the car and even if he says no shortcuts and everything was done right there's really no way of knowing. so IMO buy a stock car and start from scratch.

I know he's asking too much, it says OBO so I'm planning on talking him down. I have around 8 grand to work with for a car, so buying stock and working on it myself isn't an option... and won't be for a while. Im only 16.

Never raced my ass. Who puts all those parts on the car just for the hell of it? Looks like a decent car, but he wants way too much for it. If you want to start w/ a stock car for cheap, get a 1g. The you can spend the rest fixing everything that breaks, and modding it.

It is not the best. I saw this car on dsmtalk. It is using the original 7 bolt and trans. That to me says it is overpiced. I would say 8k is about the limit for this one.

"It seems funny that people that have never seen the car in person or driven
it or know its history can comment on the price. It also seems funny that a
16 year old car with only 104K on it is considered priced high because of
the milage. That is less the half the average yearly milage for a car. I
don't mean to sound rude or anything, but I have been around and driven over
a dozen different (and owned 4) eclipes/talons over the years. And you can
just tell which ones have been taken care of. A friend of mine has a car
with simular mods and 94,000 miles so his car looks better, on paper. Drive
the two and it is night and day. His is hard to shift, the clutch acts funny
and engages at different heights, the brakes are horrible, it stalls when
cold and has all sorts of wierd suspension nosies. My point is, if you come
look at this car, you'll see it is worth more then most of the DSM's around
that have had the crap kicked out of them.

As far as CW goes, don't even get me started. I've been very involved with
DSM's for over 6 years now, and saying that CW is common at any milage is
certainly not true. First of all, most 'real' cases of CW happened in cars
with low miles, happening before 60,000 miles not in high milage cars.
Second, the majority of CW cases you read about are simply people that do
not know about cars, have something go wrong with it and blame it on CW
because it sounds good and they have no idea what they are talking about.
And that goes for my car or any other that you look at, I wouldn't really
worry about it if I were you.

As far as price goes it might be a little high, as you say. But I believe
that the car is a little better then most of the other simular cars out
there. I'm not worried about it going for 6500, I've already had an offer
for 8000 and 9500 (although that guy does not seem serious) and it has been
listed less then a week.

Again, I don't mean to sound harsh. The CW thing is just a DSM pet-peve of
mine, it seems the only people on the fourms that ever really complained
about it was the newbies that were asking how to change their oil in a
different thread. If you are interested, I'd be happy to try to work
something out with you. There are interested people that want to come check
it out, but it is still avaliable. If you are interested, let me know what
kind of price you think is fair. If you'd like to see it first, thats fine
too."

I would say go drive it and see for yourself. I have made a few 8 hour trips to look at DSM's that I did not buy. It is the chance you take.

Honestly, it sound like you're really set on buying this car, and if you are, more power to you. Go check it out, drive it, and see if it feels as good as he says. Have someone with some dsm know-how and expirience go with you. If what someone said previously was true about the original trans i would pay extremely close attention to that. Ask if he has ever changed the trans fluid and what type he used, for all we know it could be the trans fluid that's keeping the trans together. Considering the power output that car is capable of and the fact that i think him saying he has never raced it is BS, a stock trans with 100k+ miles on it doesn't sound it'll hold out for much longer. Do a compression check, especially with spending that amount of money take every precaution. I remember what it was like to be 16 and after seeing a cool car I'd want it right there and then, but keep an open mind and don't buy a headache. So after all this you decide you want the car then go for it man, it's a nice car. Try to talk him down to 7500 i think it would be more of a fair deal. Don't forget to do a tuneup after you get it. Hopefully I helped you out a bit and goodluck man.

I'm gonna second what many others have said. This car was DRIVEN. No one puts "$20,000" in mods on there car just to sell it and watch their bank account diminish. It is a nice car, but don't pay more than $8,000 for it, if that.

I'm also 16 and I was looking for about a year or more at 2g Eclipse/talons, and everytime I saw a nice one I was like "this is it! This is the one!". But more will come around.

You should try looking in the northern Illinois area. The DSM scene in Chicago is HUGE. And you don't live that far from here. You should definitely try to find some cars around here and drive out on a day trip to see them. Check the classifieds here, and check cars.com...etc.

That car looks to be in nice shape, but it is definitely overpriced. I picked up a MINT 96 Spyder with only 40,000 miles in November for only $8800 from the twin cities, a driveable distance from you. From the pics the car looks like it was taken care of, but I wouldnt believe the guy when he says that it was babied. Just like some other guys have said, you dont build up a car that much then just sell it. The price looks like an attempt by the guy to cover the cost of all his mods. If I were you I would keep looking, you are right in the middle of three metro areas, MPLS, Milwaukee, and Chicago. You should be able to find something with lower miles for that kind of money.

Dude, honestly, you should just get a cheap 1G, the 92-94 body style, a Talon, they look reallll good, drop a new motor and tranny in it, and you still got at least 3-4k to mod/ fix it, the interiors are better anyway, and you wont be disappointed.

I must agree with everyone above me, this is a nice car no doubt. BUT it is vastly overpriced and with all those mods this guy must have driven the car to hell and back. Also if your looking to spend around 8k there are so many other cars out there bone stock that you could have alot more fun with. The guy is trying to get some money back for his mods. Just lowball the guy and if he doesnt take it then just walk away. Just remember the only one that can make this decision is you, its what teh car is worth to you and your time. If you've never owned a DSM before, buy one that has never been modded or one that has little mods. Buying modded DSM's is always trouble because you don't know for a fact if the work was done poorly or not. They may be hard to find, but it'll be worth the wait.

I'm sure most will disagree with me, but personally, I don't think it's such a bad price. I mean, it does seem kinda high if you were talking stock, but I know if I was going to buy a GSX, I would probably want to install a lot of the mods he has listed, which would cost a lot more if you were to buy them and install them yourself, so in my view, it's saving me lots of time and money.

As far as the mileage, I don't think you can find any turbo DSM that hasn't been driven hard, unless you get lucky and find one owned by an old lady or something. From the pics, it looks very clean and well taken care of. The mileage doesn't even seem that bad for a '95 either. And personally, I don't worry about CW, so whether you worry about that or not is your call.

I say check it out in person and decide for yourself.

edit: I guess I should add that I do kinda agree with JessGST, that if it's your first, you might be better getting a stock one, then you can learn a dsm's quirks.

it would cost alot for brand new parts... these aren't new and i think everyone can agree that it's BS he never drove it hard.

He's just trying to make up for the money he spent... but i don't think it's really worth it.
