I have been puffing out a lot of thick smoke and have not been able to figure out what the problem is. I noticed that my o2 housing is damp when I remove it after a run and my exhaust mani is dry. There is no oil in my intercooler. Lastly, this started happening after I installed an external oil cooler with the 90's ofh that came with the motor. I talked to a turbo rebuilder around here and he believes the turbo is fine. I just ordered a new oil return line because the stainless steel one I had on there had a kink that was impossible to get rid off. If that is not the problem then I am out of ideas. Any help/insight will be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Is the smoke a bluish tint or white? If its blue it oil, if its white is water/coolant.

If the exhaust manifold is dry then the fluid is probably not coming from the motor. And since its in your exhaust it could only really come from the turbo you know. You could check your turbo shaft play by wiggling it up and down, side to side, and in and out. If you start thinking "How much is too much" when you are wiggling it, it is probably too much. Now oil could also leak past the seals if the oil drain is restricted, which you mentioned that the drain line was kinked. I would replace this first and see if that helps, but checking for shaft play is never a bad idea you know.
