Well i recently had my front licence plate holes shaved and painted as well as the rear spoiler shaved. So the place i had do the work did a good job with the body work but used some crappy ass clear coat. All the work was done like 4-5 months ago and the clear coat is already pealing. The front worse then the rear. (I learned my lesson by going the cheap route and paying someone under the table. My main question is this, should i do all the prep work myself and then take it to an expensive place to repaint the bumper and hatch? Should i just prep my whole car and get the whole car sprayed? I am going to be purchasing an eclipse rear soon so I am going to wait and not do anything until then. Just need some opinions i guess. Thanks!

first you should go to whatever shop you're planning on taking it to, and ask them their prices for doing the whole job, and then what if the whole car is prepped beforehand. It's best to check with the shops, since opinions from a board tend to give you prices from all over the place, and not all states will have the same costs of labor and whatnot.

most high end shops wont allow you to do the prep work...the high dollar palces will do the complete refinish and then give you a 10 years-lifetime guarentee on the paint job...if you did the prep work i am sure that any guarentee they would offer would be void
