Edmonton,
I've had my Eclipse parked for about 4 years. It currently has a 2" drop, 18" rims with 225/40/R18's, APEXi N1 exhaust full cat back, and an Rdora kit all around. It was fun to drive 4 years ago but now I'm long past the days of avoiding speed bumps, angling out of parking lots in rush hour traffic, and spending my weekends sanding fibreglass and pretending I'm an automotive painter.

Question is - if I revert to 2gb bumpers(front/rear) and side skirts and keep the 2" drop with 18" rims, what are your experiences with bottoming out?

Nothing but bad experiences man, all bad... I actually raised my car because of it. If your exhaust scrapes going over speedbumps then a front 2gb bumper is going to scrape worse. I couldn't get into car washes, oil change stations, friends driveways... etc. etc. the list goes on. I say get a different suspension and change your ride height and then get the 2gb bumper on the front (the rear never scrapes).

What height did you revert back to(combination wise)?

The Eibach Prokit springs, which is a 1.2" drop I believe. That 0.8" difference makes my car feel like I'm driving a truck compared to what it was, I can hit driveways and speedbumps without cringing. You can see the difference in ride height if you go through my gallery, my new suspension went on in March 2010.

Would it be too much trouble to ask if you could measure the height of the front bumper(highest point) and the distance from the ground to the bottom of the bumper? I've been out of the scene so long I don't know anyone with a DSM anymore. Would really appreciate it and give me some numbers I can use to gauge with.

I've got a 2Gb Eclipse bumper on my Talon and a 2" drop and have no issues. Sure I have to be careful pulling into some places and watch for big speed bumps or pot holes but it's not as bad/low as some other cars I've owned.

x2 I've been dropped 2" with stock 2gb bumpers and aftermarket exhaust for about 4 years now with very minimal issues going/getting places. You're gonna have to be careful no matter what lowering spring/coil over set up you decide to put on your vehicle.

Thanks for the replies. Anyone with a stock 2gb willing to take measurements of the bumper for me?

I would but I've raised my car so my measurements wouldn't be accurate and I don't know anyone running a 2" drop because its not practical on a daily driver. The above posters must live in areas that take care of there city streets, out here in Cali I'd be bottoming out on the freeway from the imperfections...
