Hey guys, I plan on picking up a set of new headlight bulbs for my projectors and I was just wondering, have any of you encountered any problems with running higher wattage bulbs? On my old car ('99 Mustang) I ran a single 9007 bulb for my lows at 80W and highs at 100w, and never experienced any problems. I'd like to run the same setup with H1/H3 bulbs, however I don't want to fry any electrical components. I'm thinking of just running 55W bulbs for both and playing it safe. Thanks.

I run 65W in my lowbeams, and both of the factory sockets failed. No big deal, just put in replacements off the rack at AutoZone with some PosiLocks.

I think I'm just going to go that route. I'd rather replace the factory sockets once in a great while (if I encounter that) rather than every month from high-wattage bulbs.

you could always rewire your stock wiring to handle higher wattage. however, i agree. maybe stick with 55 or possibly 65 at the most. def. a difference in light though

That's an idea as well. If you have a link to known install guides on that I would appreciate it. Probably wouldn't be done now, though, as I have school starting, work, and of course my Halo addiction :thumb:

Do not run true 100w bulbs, they will melt your stock wiring.
Mmm. Been working fine on my high beams, no sign of trouble at all. The wiring wasn't the problem on the low beams- it was the chintzy 2G plastic holders for the terminals.

Headlights are the first thing I bump up on a car. You can't drive where you can't see.

use a relay. find the correct PWR & GND wires on your factory light harness, and wire a relay inline that is connected directly to your battery via 10ga wire. get the relay as close to the plug as possible. make sure you upgrade the Ground as well as the Power. one relay per plug would be best. if you're not sure on how relays work, search or PM me. i can help you out, make you a harness with dual relays if needed. (or 4 relays if doing all four bulbs)

not too hard though if you know relays

good luck!
