Aside from it being ugly, a hood without the hump would hit the timing cover (on a 4G63 car), possibly causing the timing belt to rub the cover. And that will not end well.

, 10 bucks says it wont, all aftermarket hoods are made higher so it will clear, didnt we have a member try a humpless hood? 
if the hump is "supposedly needed" how come on the 420a models its not on the otherside? both engines sit at the same height
