Building my own hood

I would like to do one with no hump and a 6" cowl!

Aside from it being ugly, a hood without the hump would hit the timing cover (on a 4G63 car), possibly causing the timing belt to rub the cover. And that will not end well.

Ha Ha no, for a RWD conversion. The 420as dont even use the hump for anything, the belt is on the other side.
 
I love that you are into fabricating your own stuff, a triangle vent like they used on Project RSX(yeah, I know its a honduh) would be something too look at, if nothing except for venting in all that high pressure area in the front of the hood. /Users/matmat/Desktop/0706_sccp_01z+acura_rsx_s+right_front_view.jpg The Project RSX by Sport Compact car that is.

That hump to clear the cam gears is a myth on 2gs. You don't need it. Notice 90% of the CF hoods don't have a hump? The cam gears sit well below the hoodline.

WRONG, cut out oyour hump and weld in a flat piece of metal, the slam that sh*t closed ROFL , 10 bucks says it wont, all aftermarket hoods are made higher so it will clear, didnt we have a member try a humpless hood? :hmm:
 
if the hump is "supposedly needed" how come on the 420a models its not on the otherside? both engines sit at the same height
 
its hard enough to see out of the factory window as is... dont think muscle car cowls belong on tuners anyway. just mho. I do however like the idea of the hump eliminator, would look really clean if in fact it does fit. or maybe a ram air hole in a revised hump would look preddy badass. nothing huge. humpless definately adds to the sleeper effect.
 
ram air hump is going to be the first "custom" project i take on after my rebuild. i have the 420a so it would line right up, just have to rotate my monster sized ECU.
