I've tried to start this thread on Talk but it just lead to nothing as usual ... So please guys make an effort to join this thread ! :thumb:

I want to make my own set since I can't leave my daily for 2 weeks. I need some information about how to fab them, dimension, fit ... Would be nice to all share what we know so a DSMer who found this thread would be able to bring his mount to a machine shop and get solid one.

I've tryed contacting badas93tsi but he doesn't reply.

Here's Slippi84 set:

I really like how garage16 made them. This way you press them in and they are centered for sure ! What fit should we do ? 0.002" of fit should be more than enough ?

Here is an other model, after a good talk with my boss (who also is a machiniste) we think a 2 piece like this one would be the best (but full in the interior, just like the protane). Without the sleave for the bolt.

With a 2 pieces like this one there's no chance that you become offset. That setup would also be easier to press in and will always be in center.

Does anyone make completely solid mounts all the way around for all 4 mounts for a 2g? If so pm the information.

Thats a big complaint from the 1G guys that i have heard, i offset the center hole on the poly ones i make for a 2g approx 1/4"

but if i was you i would press in the aluminum one then installing it and then mark the center through the brackets

Here are the mesure, they start from the exterior of the sleeve (around the bushing) but inside the mount to the inside of the bolt hole. Talking about the sleeve that you remove to press the poly in ...

No it's not a perfect circle so that's why the mesure are different ... I mesure both side and I'll choose something between them when times come.

To be 100% sure that the hole will be at the right offset, I just had an idea. I think I could press the new aluminium bushing in the mount, intall it on the car and than punch the center of the bolt hole on each side. Than remove the mount and drill it 10mm ;)

That way I'll be sure that the bolt hole is right where it should be. :D ( I know I'm a genius  )

Just had the same idea you gave me ... Thanks man now I know my way haha ;)

Ok finally found some time to do this bushing ... Not easy since I work more than 12hours/day at the shop those days. Since the support isn't round I pass it on the lathe and made the bushing 0.005" over for a good fit. Pressed it on the hydraulic press ;)

Still need to put it on the car, punch and drill where the hole should be :D

This is not a for sale thread, don't have time for mine so no time for yours.

Done, the dimensions I draw are good if you want to build your own. ;)

Beautiful work.

I hate to clutter this up, but what is the purpose of the offset hole?

No probleme, that's a good question but it's all written before the last post :p

The purpose is to copy the stock mount, I don't know why Prothane make the bushing with the hole centered since the stock one is offset. In the drawing I made by hand, you can see the stock hole is offset by 0.480" from the center. To use the prothane bushing I would have need to pry/jack the engine and I don't see why Prothane would know more than Mitsubishi about how my engine needs to sit. :thumb:

Also now the hole is the right size for the bolt, not a 16mm hole for a 9mm body bolt ... ;)

Just so I'm not confusing the discusion, these are for the 2G front and rear roll stop mounts yes? As in they aren't oriented different from one another? Just curious, wanting to rock these as well and want to make sure I get them right.

Also, what is the number of the centre circumference? I'm having a hard time depicting the numbers... thanks!
