well i am in the process of changing my clutch and noticed the ear on the block by the slave cylinder was broken. it looks like it was broken for a while due to the dirtyness. i dont have the broken off piece and before i did this the car shifted great and went into every gear. just wondering if anyone has any suggestions on what to do.

Use a long nut and weld it on. Happened to a spare motor I have. I'll see if I can get pictures of it. But you have to have the bell housing mounted so the nut gets welded in the right place.

yes pictures would be nice. i just want some ideas since its all apart and i wanna fix it so i dont break anything

I had the same thing happen on a car that I had bought but I couldn't shift out of gear unless I pushed it out. I had a freind of mine weld it back together and did a good job but as I found out it only holds for a little while because you have to do really hot welds for it to stick to the cast Block but as long as your not to hard on the clutch it should hold just fine I had to completely remove the tranny and cross member to do the welding but I think the beer and dinner were less expensive then having to replace to whole short block

well i got a welder but idk what to put in place of the broken ear since i dont have the original

I had the same issue with my car. I took 2 pieces of 1/8 inch steel roughly about 8 inches long and 2 1/2 inches wide and basically made a "bracket" on either side of the front motor mount to one side of the block and the other to the transmission. After some fab and bending and drilling, it lines up and a bolt pretty much "squeezes" the trans and block together. If the ear is snapped then half the threads are still there. A half or at least enough to contour with the bolt threads where it will hold...Mine has been like this since i put the car together 2 years ago.

idk what im going to do. i got some ideas plus i work at a machine shop so... i just dont know where to start. any ideas?

so any idea what to do since i dont have the original ear that broke off?
