this may not be the place for this thread but i just wanted a quick opinion and i just joined this forum and am limited to here, but am not a newbie to dsm's by any means

I did a quick search and found some info but not what i wanted particularly. I have recently done the evo brembo upgrade first the fronts and then the rears. I was happy with the fronts but then just wanted to match and got the rears also. went with complete SS lines, a 3g gts master cyl., stoptech drilled/slotted rotors fitted for the evo brembos, hawk hps pads, and of course the brembo calipers. :hellyeah:

Heres my issue, when i did the fronts, everything was still fine. had a little pedal travel but then they grabbed good with 1/2 stroke. since i went to the added on rears, i have not been able to bleed the system enough so i have good pedal, best ive gotten was like almost completely to the floor (if not having to pump the brakes at hard quick stops!) went through a gallon a fluid and went from the farthest point to the closest cycling it time and time again, still no better luck. fml on having 8 freaking bleeders, by yourself makes for major pita!!

My question for u guys, has anyone done the same setup or at least all the evo brembos and not upgraded their brake booster? My theory is that the booster isnt delivering enough fluid to fill all the pistons at once (considering i have 12 pistons instead of 6 now)??

Ik ive read somewhere that upgrading to the evo booster or 3g booster or something was recommended, but is this necessary? if so what fitment is better, what is recommended?!

thanks in advance any discussion appreciated!

I did the upgrade or should I say my GSX has the complete Evo Brembo upgrade for two years now and everything works fine and I haven't done the 3G brake booster upgrade nor a 3G GTS master cylinder. I actually just found out about the 3G brake booster swap a couple of days ago. I had the rear calipers installed for a couple of months before adding the fronts, I don't know or think that made any difference though. I have Goodridge SS lines on as well but they were already on the car when I bought it.

yes bleeding the brakes with the car off, and then starting it and re bleeding them

Did you make sure the caliper bleaders are pointing up? I'm sure you did but it's a mistake anyone could make.

uh-oh...i just went out to check to make sure...they're pointed down...i guess i was thinking thats how they were on my evo for some reason and so it wouldn't get fluid all over hell when u cracked them....shit.:ohdamn:

im guessing that the air is gettin trapped at the top of the pistons then....problem is...the fronts on a dsm as u know have to be shaved off on the caliper so if i switched sides to put the bleeders at the top id have to re fit them all over again!

is theyre a way to get around this?? maybe i can...ik it sounds retarded and involved ...but unmount the calipers and lay them upside down and bleed them and remount them? or should i just force myself to refit them?:notgood:

I was told to bleed the brakes with the car running.

Did I just read that last question correct? :hmm:

If you don't want to do the required work correctly, you might want to reconsider upgrading anything else in the future.

its nothing about doing the required work correctly, if u read about my car nothing was corner-cut....i was simply trying to figure a way to make sure it was the problem, and it was. i unmounted them and flipped them upside down and vacuum bled them then remounted them and they worked fantastic. But i may even upgrade the booster just for a better response and a lower pedal resistance (hows that for not wanting to do the required work.)...full stainless lines, upgraded master cyl and big booster, hawk hps pads, stoptech drilled and slotted rotors, evo9 brembos all the way around. this car will STOP. LOL

Anyone know which booster mounts up and fits the best for the best added pressure. (diameter)

now knowing that that is the problem i will be remounting them properly right side up and hanging the hat up on this project. thanks guys.

I am sure you"r mistaking here, But for the record and not spreading falls information,. The Brake Boost doesn't deliver fluid, it is just to give assistance to the pedal so the pedal doesn't get to hard when braking,. The master cylinder is the one that delivers the fluid, so bigger cylinder more fluid, and smaller cylinder less fluid.

(JUST CLARIFICATION)

Brake Booster is not necessary but is an upgrade, Brake booster only gives you assistance when braking, with a bigger booster you will use less afford and with a small booster you have to use more afford to brake.

Edit,

The best fit for the 2g, is the 3g Brake Booster, It is a bolt on without any modifications.

Are all 3g brake boosters bigger than 2g's? Or are only the brake boosters listed as 'traction control' the larger ones?

The reason I ask is because doing a part lookup, there are two brake boosters listed for a GT, one with traction control and one without. For a GTS, the only brake booster is the one 'with traction control'.
